Literally a dream workout. I hit everything I wanted to on Bench and we had a pretty awesome time.
Yea so pretty sure I am going to crash hard AF as soon as I get some food in me (lunch with fam in hopefully less than 5 minutes LOL) so HAPPY SATURDAY!!! GO GET THAT FUN TIMEZ!!! or what ever else we all do!
I am going to use the Dbol for a last bit of hypertrophy work (as back downs) then I think I am going to attempt to Squat, Deadlift and Bench each 3 times a week. Volume will be low with varying intensities in the high to really high altitudes.
I think my weight will peak in the 105 to 110kg range then hopefully I come back down to 100kg much leaner than this.
Begin with front true relaxed pot belly pose heavily aided by Morning Abs. I think my legs gained more than anything.
I keep a tally of people I have met or seen in person that are stronger than I am and cross them off when they no longer are. I kind of forgot about that because this is the only dude on that list. (Not super impressive because I dont get out much and especially not with in the community.)
I met this guy the day he was doing this photo shoot (he loved Ray Williams). I was lifting to lift heavier shit but I hadnt really started to focus on PLing yet. I always wondered what happened to him and now I found him, the gym I think he coaches at here in town and his instagram.
He competed Equipped but his Raw numbers are very impressive. He would have probably totaled in the 850kg range at 110kg. He is now retired so it doesnt really affect Mexico’s biggest Raw total but at the same time I will be adjusting my main goal to a 500 wilks…after a 800kg total (at any weight).
I just checked my Facebook activity and shortly after meeting him my activity became flooded with Dan Green and other Powerlifting/Strongman related material likes and my Deadlift jumped 40lbs in 3 months after being mainly stagnate for 5ish months (still natty).
I believe I was meant to find Powerlifting and this man was that catalyst.
I am going to that gym tomorrow. I am hoping this gets me an insight into the very offline powerlifting scene here in Mexico and I can find a meet. It will also be cool to see him again.
One other funny thing I found was this was posted by a female friend of mine. She just had a baby that he thinks was an accident but we (everybody who knows female friend) know that it wasnt.
Spoke with him today. Nice guy. He also mentioned there should be a competition around June or July which is probably about perfect for me to build some strength and have a better power to weight ratio (ie not be a fat ass ahaha).
He is friends with my nemesis and he also confirmed my nemesis is the strongest in Mexico right now. He mentioned another person I will be searching for who is up there as well.
I should probably stop calling him my nemesis because truthfully I see him as a friend I havent met yet, dont want them to get the wrong idea.

Shitty ish workout, depth and speed were great but my hips are sore so I stopped my last set at ~525.
Skipped Deads, might do them later tonight or tomorrow. Strong chance I try to Squat again tomorrow.

Hips pretty sore AF this morning and my back too. This was pretty disheartening but yet again my own damn fault for not keeping up on mobility. I was feeling so good the last week too. You can see a complete lack of whining for a solid 5+ days.
Deads got stronger as I went on, thanks @MarkKO yet again. I kept working my hips down and maintaining that position through the lift and every set was stronger/better. I am pretty sure that 2x10@180kg is a volume PR by itself so once again Deads and Bench on point and I keep sabotaging myself with Squats.
That brings me to this, I need to start thinking about my total and not like a dude trying to be a balanced lifter. 800kg should come with no improvement on Squats, but to do anything close to 500 wilks I am going to need that Squat better. IF for some reason I just cant keep it together for Squats I might have to go full Pete Rubish Mode (he Squats about once per prep then does a ton of assistance work). I really think this is just a lack of focus and commitment to mobility on my part though.
I will be dropping Barbell Rows though. I know I have talked some MAD shit about programs that dont include barbell rowing (and that wont change) because there are always extenuating circumstances.

OK so you know that scene in every horror movie when the ladies are having a sleep over and one lady says “look at my tattoo” and 12 seconds later they are all half naked in a pillow fight? The women watching the movie roll their eyes emphatically and say that never happens and the men disagree? Well it totally does happen, just not with women. Go to a gym with only men when one bro takes his shirt off and next thing you know they are all half naked in a pillow fight…I mean lifting stuff. Obviously we didnt get into an actual pillow fight, they were Yoga mats.
but the shirt and shoes are optional rule is probably my favorite thing about crossfit gyms. Pretty sure I will walk to the gym in flip flops on Deadlift day.

I was pretty pissed about that 187kg but I have cooled down and realized that if a bad day is 187kg bench then I am ok.
I will also try again and adjust the attempts. I should have known after 166kg was misgrooved a bit to take a smaller jump. I will also not try to speed rep every rep going up the ladder no matter how much fun it is to smoke 140kg like the it is the bar.

Good day, I love my deads on their own day. I dont think the 1 less recovery day will affect Squats on the important days (Mon & Thurs) but I think my deadlifts will blossom.

Good friend and mi Hermanita’s BF was in a pretty bad car accident Saturday morning. He is lucky to be alive. It has left me a bit squeamish and very grateful. HAPPY SUNDAY AND STAY SAFE!!!
I am very sorry to hear about the accident! I hope he has a speedy recovery. Times when it hits close to home makes you reevaluate your own life. Even if I don’t know the person when I hear something awful I try to use it as a slap in the face to stop being a wimp and do good with my life!! Hope you have a better tomorrow too.

Saw Black Panther, pretty awesome. 11.5 of 10…it gets 2 points for not being the same old same old coming out of the hero universe. The rest of the points come for the characters all being totally bad ass. Killmonger blew me away (going to go download some of his other films now) and Freeman has been a favorite of mine for a while (Sherlock and the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy). Then obviously kick ass ladies everywhere. Hopefully I can go see it again later this week.

260 was sloppy, I NEED to get my back tighter and stronger. Low bar might be in the future. The 5x2 was pretty solid, my second reps were all better than my firsts.
Mobility work over the last couple days has paid off but now my Quad pain is back…ok it never left. Because my ankles and hips were so tight my knee never bent far enough for me to notice.
Also adding a 3rd Bench day. Right now it is a Pre/re-hab day but in the future I hope it will be a volume day.
BACK PUMP is back. I am leaning out, my diet is pretty clean by my standards (so super clean for most), BP is good and my estrogen should be in check which really only leaves one known theory and that is kidney stress. I am going to do some research and get the tests done next day off…Saturday at the latest. It will be cool to have good evidence of whether or not this is kidney stress or not.
OK I have a date with the couch so HAPPY MONDAY!!!
