FSL@BBB (5x10) Deadlifts - How Did You Find Them?

Just started my 531 program and doing supplementary lifts as FSL@BBB reps.

Completed my first deadlift day yesterday and 5x10 deadlifts seemed a bit daunting, as I’d never even deadlifted over 5 reps before based on the very common (and I now assume bad) advice. And I thought I’d probably have to drop it to 5x5.

But surprisingly, whilst pretty tiring and feeling strange, they went well and felt like a good workout for the dl muscles.

So I was curious, for you guys that also do or have previously done 5x10 deadlifts, how have you found them?

Did you end up having to change the range down when you got to higher weight?

Felt like I wanted to vomit every time I did it.

good job! when i started 5/3/1 years ago and did BBB i pussied out and switched for RDL. Recently while doing my second anchor of Perverter i hit 5X10 at 130kg, something i never did before, and felt glriousss!! hehehe

Hah did you feel it was worth it though in the end?

What kind of weight we’re you pulling at the time?

yes its worth it pulling 5X10 if only to build mental fortitude! i was doing like 90kg girl RDL i think maybe less? couple cycles later i bit the bullet and did real BBB deads.

Last cycle was 366lbs with an axle.

I don’t understand your first question.

First question just meant did you find them easy, tough, too exhausting, preferred a different rep range for DL than the other lifts… just anything really.

Asked as its generally uncommon to see deadlifts at rep ranges over 5 in most of the common programs people come across, so was interested in the experiences of others as I look ahead at doing them myself.

They were hard enough that they made me feel like vomiting whenever I did them.

That said, I have seen a LOT of programs with deads above 5 reps. I would greatly say deads of 5 or lower are the minority of programs.

I had to work up to 5x10 on deads, having never come close to doing that volume before. I was more in the 3-5 rep range.

I did 5x5, then 5x7, and finally 5x10. Now, they’re hard as hell but I like them. I do have to be careful, and dial it back if the FSL weight is too high. The highest I’ve done is 225 @ 5x10 (I’m not as strong as T3hPwnisher or many others), but I’m going for 235 @ 5x10 on this cycle.

Hard but doable. Soreness. My TM was not super high when I did it, but my BBB work was somewhere between 270-340lbs.

I compromise by doing only 3 sets on DL but the last set I do more than 10 reps. And honestly rest time is the biggest factor here if your doing all 5 sets.
