Fruits...Eat Them or Not??

So true.

This thread is a perfect example of a debate between someone who knows what they’re talking about versus someone who thinks they know what they’re talking about.

You can thank vegans and raw food people for making golden rice illegal. Veganism blinds little kids on purpose.

I don’t agree with the entire post, but I do agree with the above.

People seem to be unable to understand that the context under whch you eat somethng is as important as what you eat. Getting fructose from eating fruit is different than getting fructose in the form of sugar in every meal.

Avoiding fruit because sugar is unhealthy is like avoiding poppy seeds because opium is made from them.
No one said sugar is unhealthy. You may have the worst debate skills Ive come across on this site. Please follow the discussion and avoid the need to resort to strawman arugments to make a point.

Holy shit, nobody said that? Really?

Because the third fucking post reads

and, a post later, when he was asked “Why would you avoid fruit?”:

So the OP of the fucking thread says he would avoid fruits because “they have a lot of sugar”… yet “No one said sugar is unhealthy.” Except thats exactly what the OP said.

Dipshit.

hahaha, seriously? Semantics? And I “may have the worst debate skills you’ve seen on the site”? Ever read your own posts?

Its clear you were incorrect when you said “No one said sugar is unhealthy.” The personal attacks afterward just make you a stupid prick.

Now go away, child.

The guy was talking about losing fat. . He wants to avoid sugar because consuming it will not benefit his fat loss goals.

Sugar has obvious merits for those looking to improve physique/performance. Cigarettes, for example, are unhealthy.

Define ‘exactly’ when you get a chance. Because you seem to know what the OP is asking/referring to more than he does.

This is ironic. You can look up the definition of that as well.

And its not ironic solely because you used a personal attack to criticize a post I made that did NOT have a personal attack. Youve resorted to name calling in a few other posts as well.

You did a real bang up job getting your point across…

This train wreck has spiraled away from the original question. Dude, go ahead and eat the fruit. It has its benefits and as long as you are not eating a ton of it you will be fine. Small amounts of fructose from fruit sources along with other smart carb sources will help with glycogen stores.
I agree.

I eat a piece of fruit almost everyday. I would not recommend that to someone looking to drop bodyfat. Cutting fruit may be a very easy way to tighten up a diet and the lost micro nutrients and phytochemicals can be made up for with vegetables.

I would definitely recommend it to someone looking to drop bodyfat. While rawvegan and 30 bananas a day are definitely not the best diet for humans, they definitely help you drop bodyfat. You cannot get fat by just eating fruit, I have seen it time and time again.

I know you think fructose is fructose, but it’s not. Fructose in fruit is combined with other things that help the body absorb it and use it better. When it is extracted and used alone ofcourse it is bad. All foods have things in them that when extracted alone are terrible for you and even poisonous.

Fruit is great, for anyone, especially those trying to lose weight. Rice, potatoes, wheat/grains, processed foods and sugar are the things to avoid.

Actually there bud, I think you’re the one who has bad debate skills. You told people to avoid sugar if they are trying to lose weight, which is NOT good advice.

You seem to be speaking a lot out of your ass, and if someone proves you wrong you get mad at them.

Anyways the point is, Fruit is very good for you, and YES people did say sugar is bad. So maybe read a little first before calling people out.
PB Andy wrote:

If you’re trying to lose weight I don’t think it’s in your best interested to consume a lot of rice/potatoes. Just my opinion, but I research alot and believe it is good advice.

Well obviously if you wanna lose some fat you are gonna have to cut the carbs a bit. I figured you meant that one should avoid rice/potatoes in general.

I tend to read the main articles for advice before I look to the forums… Somebody wrote recently (Clay Hight maybe?) that the leaner you are, the more fruit you can allow in your diet. If you’re trying to get leaner, then you’d want less fruit in your diet. (Not zero, but less).

I’m currently eating rice krispies, oven baked chips, and frosted flakes. Bye

Bonez knows quit a bit - he just has a habit of misreading posts and insulting people based on his misinterpretation or hair splitting. For example, in your second to last sentence, you need to specify between “sugar is bad” and “sugar is unhealthy” and “sugar contributes to body fat” and a whole host of other things.

So, what your saying is…

I need to eat bread and fried rice but avoid fruit?

Sweet:)

The thing that I would love to see mandated is if someone is spewing “advice” saying fruit is “very good” or any other retarded over-used and completely unsupported so-called fact is they should be required to post a picture of this body of adonis that they have built using the advice they are giving.

And support this bullshit statement that “fruit is very, very good for you”. What fruit? Apples? Mango? Avocado? Banana? Tomato? What do you mean “good” for you? Phytonutrients? Does a fruit provide any of these phytonutrients that you cannot get from other means? Vegetables? Meats? The answer is no. One can get everything they need to be vigorously healthy and never touch a fruit.

Oh, I’m sure you will go digging for a study…a study which took a group off of the dog shit western diet of waffles, ice cream, soda, and jelly beans and put them on fruit and behold they improve in health in some manner. That only proves the western diet’s shortcomings. In order to prove fruit is the greatest, you have to take a group of people who are already eating a great diet WITHOUT fruit, put them on fruit, measure the outcomes, then possibly bring them off of fruit and measure the outcomes. Of course this will never happen in a million years.

In short, you cannot say that someone who eats fruit is in any way healthier than someone who shuns fruit and instead eats only lots of vegetables. Telling people they are “very very good for them” may lead people to believe they HAVE to include fruit in their diet which, depending upon the amount and type, could cause them to lose their physique goals.

The take home message is- know what you are putting in your mouth and exactly what it will do when its in your body. Don’t do it because some so-called expert or the general consensus says its “good for you”. It may, it may not, and you might find a much BETTER choice without the physique-muting effects of some of the fruits they are espousing.
I get what you’re saying, but there’s so many different studies showing different benefits that it’s pointless to start bringing in a bunch of studies that people won’t read anyway.

Besides, there’s things in fruit that haven’t even been discovered yet, so explaining what exactly in the fruit is impossible. In a couple years there will be new chemicals found that improve this or that.

And I agree, it’s different for everyone, so go with how you are feeling and what you are looking to do. The problem is many people are scared and have NO IDEA what they are doing. So whether you think fruit is good or not, I, along with many others, believe it’s good. It’s natural, full of vitamins and minerals, so I don’t think it’s bad advice recommending fruit to people.

THis is correct. Im glad I didnt have to explain such a simple concept.

But you were certainly the first to toss insults around. There was no reason for it and you brought the rest upon yourself.
