Fruit and Vegetables Only?

What are you’re guys’ thoughts on using vegetables and fruits as your only source of carbohydrates? Are there any specific advantages or disadvantages to ignoring grains, starches, etc.? Are (certain) fruits much lower in the GI than other sources?

It has been discussed before but who gives a shit. So have most discussion topics.

Anyways, there is nothing wrong with it other than missing out on excellent dishes. You would basically eliminate italian, chinese and mexican food; three staples.

if you are on a low carb diet (ie Anabolic Diet) vegetables as your carb source is probably your only option on low carb days.

Its kinda dumb if you only stick to vegetables and fruits when you do a carb up day. I can’t imagine matching rice and potatoes with fruits and vegetables

It depends on your goals and purpose for doing so. It’s not going to harm you in any way.

If your going to eat carbs at all I’m not getting why anybody would avoid starchy ones altogether. Beans, sweet potatoes, potatoes, some grains, even unprocessed corn are all good food, among others. Overdoing anything, including fructose in fruit is never as good as some balance even though I usually hate that word.

where is the protein, and i am pretty sure fruits and veggies would get mighty tiring after a while, even a professional athlete would probably go crazy on that diet

He’s talking about as your only carb source, but I still see no pluses and some minuses.

OP GL is more useful than GI. Yes of course there is a variation of GI and GL between (certain) fruits.

IMO the only grains worth eating are oats and maybe brownrice. (Quinoa is not a grain)
