Front Squat=Bench?

my front squat after a long front squat workout is only 250 and my max bench is 270 so yeah

I believe he was talking about front squatting his max bench for 5 reps…but I may be wrong.

I never did front squats and when I did they were not even close to my max bench (close grip or otherwise). I think if you trained both with equal focus, for equal time, the front squat would be considerably higher.

FS = 150kg x5, Bench = 150-155kg x1

Bench press: 114kg
Front Squat: 160Kg

It depends on what you do as to how much you can bench or front squat. I work legs about 6x a week over 4 days. If you don’t front squat it will not be good, simple as that. Theres no way your front squat will be anywhere near 80% of your back squat if you don’t devote a considerable amount of time to front squating.

I don’t devote any time to bench, hence my slightly above avg bench.

You have a fatty front squat :slight_smile: I should just about edge 170kg by the end of the year I reckon.

P.S. = Everytime you say how much you squat (ALL OF YOU!), please elaborate if it’s rock bottom, parallel, quarter, wide stance, narrow stance, etc. Things like that makes a HUGE difference.

Heck if Rezazadeh actually widened his stance in squatting, he’d be the first person to squat 1000 pounds raw.

Front squat - 405
Bench - 315

For the sake of disclosure this was the only bench max I have done in the last two years (I think this was in February) and it was on an adjustable bench (you know how when you put them flat your butt always falls in the crack) that was about 3" too tall with no liftoff. Probably could have done more especially on a better bench, but 315 was a big enough milestone that I was content.

The front squat was done less than a month ago and it took everything I had. Upper back is my weakpoint on it. I’ve done 315 for 8.

I don’t have exact numbers, but I’m sure my front squat and bench are within 20 pounds of each other. I’ve never really thought about it, but they’ve always been near each other.

And just to satisfy the curious, I do ATG squats slightly above parallel and I use a very narrow stance with my feet about a foot outside shoulder width.

Mendy’s 715lbs (some think paused, some think touch and go) is the biggest raw bench ever.What is the most that has EVER been front squatted raw?

Doesn’t matter much, Mendy is a bench specialist not a three lift powerlifter.

I think it’s a good question considering we are trying to figure out how the bench compares to the front squat.He has the biggest bench of all time, what is the biggest front squat of all time? I don’t understand your point, a three lift powerlifter doesn’t front squat either.

It’s hair splitting but I think since the biggest bench of all time was done by a bench specialist (who does nothing except bench) for a true comparison you’d need someone who was a front squat specialist (which I’m pretty sure doesn’t exist).

The biggest front squats that I’ve heard of have been by Olympic lifters whose main lifts are the clean and jerk and the snatch who train the front squat as an assistance lift.

Can you understand my point? I can see where you’re coming from as well.
