Summer has been enjoyable, but has gotten me slightly off track as far as training and waaaaaayy off track as far as my diet is concerned (haven’t kept a food journal at all). I think for the first time in my life I’m looking forward to September. September is my deadline to get my diet back in order, and tweak my training routine to focus on problem areas. My goal for September is to gain muscle but also get a little leaner… so I’m in good shape to start a January contest prep. Once I’m back at work it will be much easier to implement a routine and follow it. The unstructured nature of each summer day makes training and eating consistently more difficult.
Here are a couple of things I noticed this summer.
My strength varies at different times of the day. It sounds strange, but when I go to the gym in the morning I’m never as strong as when I go in the afternoon.
2)Swimming laps (which I love), is tough when you’ve trained legs (or delts & tris) the day before. I used to swim a mile a few times per week during the summer, now I’m finding I can’t swim as much since everything is usually sore. I guess you just have to choose which is more important. I decided to cut down on swim time.
I’m eating bigger (and badder) meals… not totally horribly, but enough to affect how I feel (and my pant size). I think I was actually stronger during contest prep, when I was losing weight… I’m probably not getting as much protein as I was then… Nutrition really needs to be in place for ANYTHING to work. I really didn’t want to gain back ALL my contest weight… but I did, kinda disappointing.
Oh well, Summer 2011 is almost done and I’m looking forward to a fresh start in September.
Just want to bring to everyone’s attention the latest (Nov 2011) issue of natural Bodybuilding & Fitness magazine. Cat’s looking badass (cute IMO) on pages 32 and 34. They used a couple of shots from a Photo shoot we did the day after the Hercules, and I just think it’s hysterical that one of her pics accompanies an article on Vegan Bodybuilding (This girl can house a cheeseburger like nobody’s business! -lol)
I would say there are ten girls that lift in the big boy lions den free weights room at each of the two locations I train at. A few fitness competitor types, one or two that are definately strippers, a couple that are always there with their boyfriends and several that I assume are collegiate track/basketball/soccer whatever players.
I find that odd that strippers are in that mix!
I know rite!?
But RLY they do make their money on their bodies… they are um, how to delicate… closer to my age than to their early twenties. Obvi putting in the work to keep their competitive edge. And I should say its not totally OBVIOUS they are strippers… one of them told me.
oh, ok, I was wondering how it would be obvious that they were strippers while they were in the gym… if they aren’t in stripper heels or practicing stripper moves at the gym. Unless your gym has a pole fitness class…
I think it’s interesting to see how many successful bodybuilders were either poor athletes, or just uninterested in sports early on. That’s always been a reoccurring joke amongst my brothers, both of whom were multi-sport varsity athletes (usually captains as well). My ‘thing’ was always my artwork, as I admittedly can be quite a spaz when it comes to doing anything actually athletic. So now, being able to call myself a “Pro Athlete” stirs up quite the sh-t-talking -lol.
Nothing makes me chuckle more than seeing Cat be more uncoordinated than I am. On one of our very first dates, we ended up playing Air-Hockey, and despite the usual trash talking one would expect, I not only beat her handily, but she even scored on her own goal more than once!
Okay, bumpin’ the hell out of this old thread because I finally got to editing the video from the show and converting it enough to upload! So here’s Cat, in my opinion, very easily winning her class at the INBF 2011 Hercules…

Agreed Stu
Cat,
Hows the off season treating you? have you looked at the 2012 schedule? Can’t wait to hear an update

so,… is this going to be an actual big decision here, whether Cat keeps her log in this section or jumps to the ‘log’ section? At least it’s more entertaining than another ‘how big can I get naturally?’ or ‘whats my bodyfat?’ thread

Omgosh I’m not going to rant. I think I did a mini rant somewhere in PW…
You may have noticed that the BB forum is not overly friendly to females. It usually only takes ten or twenty posts by a female for her to get called:
a. Fat
b. Transexxual
c. Attention Whore
True story.
My response to being called a., b., or c. is of course LOL there is really no other response HOWEVER I admit my first thought seeing this thread was “oh good, legit female BB talk in the BB forum fucking awesome”
TO ME (um do I write IMHO here?) TO ME I’m a body builder because I lift weights with physique goals. I lift in pursuit of how I want my body to LOOK. I abso have secondary goals that are strength and health related ABSO but my main purpose doing what I do is to BUILD the BODY that I want. Thats bodybuilding. I also admit that the appearance of the figure athlete forum simu to this thread really struck me sideways. WHY? I think its good to have this here.
I officially vote for legit female Body Building talk in the Body Building forum not sub regulated to some vajayjay zone. I think the similarities between female BB and male BB don’t call for a separation. Sorry. I’m not saying there is no use for the Figure Athlete Subforum I’m just saying that doesn’t mean we can’t post here.
UM, I’ve already decided I’m going to post in BB because that is what I consider what I do. I think this thread staying here (and really Cat’s contributions in general) will make BB a slightly friendlier place for the ladies because really not all girls are as tough as I am and REALLY lots of girls don’t LOL at being called fat transexual attention whores.
Pic for reference.
and that WAS a Rant - sorry Cat!

Great points Hallowed.
I’ll be following along (just as I do with Stu’s threads), and would definitely vote to keep it here as well.
A great couple doing great things, who wouldn’t want to keep tabs on this awesome story?
Hey guys,… I don’t think Cat’s been on here in a bit, she tends to get really busy with her day job as well as a couple nights a week working at a local college. She’s discussed possibly doing the same show she competed in this last year (2011) except going into the Open class this time. Still, she hasn’t made any firm decision yet. We do have a lot on our plate this coming year (apt/house hunting, wedding planning, me looking for a better teaching position…). In my case, I HAVE to compete to keep my WNBF pro status active, so we both realize that it’s not an option (gotta keep my face and name out there to keep getting coaching clients!) Cat, however, actually has a choice. Also, depending on our actual wedding plans, I’m sure she wouldn’t want to be dieting around the event, or even a couple weeks after while on a honeymoon.
Once she figures out what she’s going to do, I’m certain she’ll make her plans known. In fact, I’m sure that once I remind her that other T-Folk still are interested in her progress that she’ll be back on here… at least until she gets buried in work again

Thank You!!
I’ve been naughty the last few months… Been enjoying myself quite a bit, holiday parties, drinks with friends, and chocolate and goodies every where I look. As a matter of fact, I had a brownie with ice cream on it when I got home from work today, I would like to say that behavior is a rarity, but I’d be lying. I just watched the video Stu posted and to be honest, I’m feeling fat right now!!
I would like to compete in the Hercules again next year and try to win an open class. Instead of dieting for 4 months (march thru June), I think I’m going to start dieting in Jan, which would give me an extra 2 months. Hopefully that would make things a little easier the last month or so of prep. I haven’t definately decided yet, but this is my rationale for doing a show:
I’ve gotten out of my gym and consistent eating routine (yesterday I had 2 meals all day), and I’m feeling it, UGH! It’s amazing how easliy bad habbits creep back into your life. I hate to admit this, especially on this forum (Stu don’t read this part!), but I haven’t been to the gym for the entire month of December, time has gotten away from me and I’m feeling overwhelemed, stressed, and guilty for not going to the gym and eating so badly.
I seemed to get more accomplished when I’m on a fixed schedule and under some kind of pressure. There have been a lot of things going on the last few months, but I still could have been more productive with my time. I think back to the contest prep and have no idea how I actually did it - when did I find the time??? But somehow I did it. When I’m under pressure I work better and get more accomplished.
It has been a hetic (but happy!)few months. It took me longer than usual to get back into the swing of school this year. A hurricane hit Long Island at the end of August, so I went back to work with no power at home. My computer was out of comission for a few weeks (computer virus), and I’ve been chaperoning school trips (to Boston, Phily, NYC) as well as working part time at the college library… when did life get so busy? I long for the days when I had so much time on my hands I actually got bored.
Stu & I got engaged at the end of October (YAY!!!) I’m looking forward to our future together!! We have a lot of wedding planning to do, as well as looking for a place to live. Hopefully during Christmas week we will pick a wedding date & location - that’s the goal for next week. Stu is so good, he already made appointments for us to visit places.
Sooooo, the off season has been very good to me, not in the training & dieting kind of way, but in the happy full life kind of way. I’m going to enjoy the holidays & the last week of the year - but I WILL be back to training & dieting in Jan! Still not sure about the show, but I don’t want to let myself slide any further, I miss feeling strong (and my jeans are getting a bit too tight!).
I’ll be following along (just as I do with Stu’s threads), and would definitely vote to keep it here as well.

Thank you!! Much Appreciated!!
I have to admit, Stu has been MUCH better (dieting & training) than I have been the last few months. Stu gave himself the summer to indulge, I gave myself summer, fall, and the beginning of winter to eat, drink, & be merry! My training was non existent this month, and I’m feeling it… However, I did set a personal best on the sled & squatting back in november. But, I have a lot of work ahead of me, and I’m looking forward to it!
