Friedrich is Beyond 35... Really Beyond

12.22.2025

I have been eating like :poop: lately. Lately being the last five or six years. I guess I will start writing down my food intake here, though no calorie counting.

Many years ago, 2010 to be exact, (I am sure I have mentioned before…), I wrote on Dave Draper’s forum that I was struggling with weight. I couldn’t find a fit for an eating approach. A fellow typed back and suggested I try the No S Diet. Which means: No Snacks, No Sweets, No Seconds, except for days that start with S. Three plates of food a day. One for each meal.

Really basic and hard to over think. The Adult ADHD part of me loves it because it isn’t t tedious, nor do I need to think much. I just eat three squares a day.

In 2010 I dropped 28 pounds between the beginning of March to the end of May. I touched 172 lbs. Down from 200 lbs. My wife told me I looked ill I had lost so much weight. I looked tan and fit on Seven Mile Beach. To be up front, I pedaled a lot of Airdyne as well.

So I figured this morning, ā€œWhy not?ā€. I keep a pretty good account of myself with the workouts, why not see if posting my daily food intake/strategy will also make me more cognizant of what I stuff in my pie hole.

Breakfast: two packets of instant oatmeal, two cups of coffee, 6 oz. of tomato juice, an apple

Lunch: one bowl of Kimchi flavored noodles, A small cucumber w/parmesan ranch to dip the cucumber in.

Dinner: half a rib eye, A large salad w/ bleu cheese dressing and and egg (diced), Rice a Roni herb and butter. Plus a glass of Coke with ice. I will tweak here and there as I go.

Home scale today: 201 lbs.

You and me both! :face_with_diagonal_mouth: I told the girls at work that I currently am running an experiment to see if you can get diabetes in a single day. Pretty sure I came close yesterday. Lol.

Good luck. I know first-hand it’s about consistency. Do you have a goal weight?

Well, right now about 190 lbs. When I hit that step I will re-assess and set a new goal. Last night was a train wreck after dinner. Night time eating has been a problem, I need to reign that in. I also know, if I weigh daily, that helps as well. Merry Christmas!

A very late breakfast. We’ll call it lunch. I had appointments in the AM. Then off to the pharmacy. My doctor has a prior authorization on file (every six months). Unfortunately my pharmacy does not some how. My health insurance company is playing games. So, being the holidays and knowing my HMO (or whatever) will drag their feet, I gave them the mental finger and paid out of pocket. That needs to be worked out.

But, regardless, here is breakfast: four eggs with cheese, a patty and a half of sausage, two slices of toast, a small amount of California dried apricots, six oz. of :tomato: juice, and black coffee.

Usually I load coffee up with sugar and creamer, but it is time to cut those calories out. I finished all but a slice of toast. My Alsatian appreciated his slice of toast. I prefer the California apricots over the Turkish variety. The are tart, this brand kind of reminds me of the apricots we cut and dried for years. (Cut, sulfured, then set in the sun for 2-3 days.) I have tried a dehydrator, but they are not the same either.

I will not be photographing every meal. I just thought I would share today’s start.

Until later!

Edit: Sorry for the laborious post. I wanted to clarify, on the Days that start with S, Saturday and Sunday. As I read up occasionally about the No S Diet, the online ā€œdiet expertsā€ somehow equate that with two days of gluttony. That is not the case. A piece of cake at a party, a desert at a dinner get together, a mojito, an extra beer watching the game. F#ck, a popcorn and soda at the movies. Occasionally during the week I have a Coke with dinner. I buy a 2 litre bottle and can nurse that until it is flat. The old No S site had a 21 day challenge thread. I did that three times and lost ten pounds with each effort. So it works, but only if you work the plan and not go ape shit on the weekends. It should be intuitive that ā€œExcept the days that start with Sā€ does not indicate a caloric orgy. Take Care!

Breakfast looks good. For me, the diet is such a mental game. Do whatever works for best for you. I like the days that start with S diet. Sounds reasonable, and best of all, it works for you. :+1:

I love black coffee!! I recently decided to try vanilla collagen creamer and I am not a fan. Gonna try unflavored and see how that goes. If it doesn’t do better I will just have to be collagen free. I love my black coffee too much. It may very well be the best part of my day.

I have not put in a session yet today. But the first of my three squares.

Fives eggs, a dollop of sour cream, Tabasco Sriracha sauce, and some cheese. Personally, the better my breakfast, the less I eat the rest of the day.

Merry Post Christmas!

It was a good holiday. Daughter number three and her husband showed up last evening. We had a nice evening. I fell asleep on the couch while they and my wife conversed. I often feel I was a schmuck father, but my kids love me.

Then today a good friend called. He had disappeared for awhile, but he is back and sounds healthy. It was good to chat with him.

I hit the home gym for a mid afternoon session and 10 minute IR sauna. I was thinking 20 would be good, but I called it at 10 minutes.

Obviously you will have to turn your head sideways.

Diet? Tuesday and Wednesday were spot on. Christmas was :christmas_tree:. Today has been great. Though I did notice I had a piece of See’s Candy in my pie hole. I just had one piece. Tonight is left over beef burgundy, I think.

Have a good weekend!

I know you can’t get to know someone in depth through an online forum but I very much doubt you were/are. From what you’ve written it sounds like you raised some awesome daughters, I think it’s only natural we doubt our fathering skills (I know I do)

There is distance between my daughter and I other than her individuating at 22. It’s pretty clear that fathers struggle to connect with daughters as well as mothers do. That’s okay. Pretty sure I can guarantee you that you weren’t a schmuck father.
