Agreed, the courage it must have taken to get in the wagon and start their horses forward - incredible!
@shaneinga “You have good taste in car color.”. Thanks. I hit a pot hole in May and blew a tire and the front passenger’s side brakes out. My Subaru needed new tires. I had a root canal I was already paying off. So I waited on the Mini. I have had it three years(?). I saw it on a lot, went home, my son in law drove me back, and… Well, my wife said, “I knew you were going to buy that!”. I have been driving the Subaru for 20 years so she was only a little hostile.
I do not disagree with any of you regarding the courage it took to cross from St Louis to any of those Western destinations. One hundred degree heat, rattle snakes, grizzly bear as you approached the mountain ranges, cholera, you name it. All of us have, ancestors who decided to leave their old lives behind and start over. Tough individuals.
I bought a Shena push up board. I keep thinking I am going to Indian club and try some Persian Yoga. Wait until the new neighbors see that action.
20 years in the same car, I would say you earned it. ![]()

Good Morning!
Total Time: 25:00 minutes
Pre Workout:
Workout:
Total Reps: 147
Not a bad session this morning. My first set of dips were up one rep from last week. Still falling four short from a few weeks ago. I seem to peak at eleven. I have a dip belt, I should start adding some weight.
I did cut back on most resistance. I came into this week tired. Today I did feel “refreshed”.
I did get a bit light headed in the sauna.
I have about a month until school starts. It is time to get back to class and start getting organized. I have a new Nolan Ryan motivational (small) poster.
Next week? I plan on doing a REHIIT on Monday. Then back to “my thing” on Tuesday.
Have a good weekend!

Early, evening start.
7:01 PM to 7:32 PM
Pre Workout
Workout
Slept, fished, caught nil, slept worked out. Not a bad day! It was extremely windy. I just slide a sinker on the line and fished off the bottom. Just lake grass.
I did some static holds on a few sets. Nice pump! I do not think I even counted time. I just held it until it burned. I used to have Mrs. Friedrich do timed static pyramids. She is tiny so we would have her do the static holds on seated press, occasionally on leg press, etc. She hated them. I read about them from John Little. A cruel form of resistance training.
No cardio today. Maybe tomorrow.
See you Thursday! Edit: I forgot, I was able to get my workout partner closer to strength training. He prefers squeaky balls and wind sprints.
I am in the middle of a Glenn Ford movie marathon. So far: The Big Heat, The Violent Men, and Gilda with the stunning Rita Hayworth.
Early this morning I had an amazing reflux attack. I am not sure what caused it. But it rocked my world!
I do not know who parcels out the hearts, but we need more!
Bad day fishing beats a good day working. My son hasn’t caught on to that yet, but I am trying to teach him. ![]()
Fishing is like blackjack. Some days you hit 21, other days…

REHIT.
Total Time: 6:40 minutes
Distance: 1.8 miles
Heart Rate: 120 bpm
Infrared Dry Sauna: Twenty minutes
I find, my opinion, that the claims made by some (CAROL bike $2500) that two twenty second all out sprints are equivalent to a 20-30 minute Airdyne ride. Certainly the above session got me huffing and puffing, but I would like to see CAROL’s research. Plus any research that is peer reviewed. They also claim it promotes weight loss. I bet it would if I quit eating everything I can grab I would lose weight.
Great workout. Looks like your training partner is whipped!
It’s been 14 years since I’ve owned a car longer than 20 months. 20 years is damn impressive.
It still runs. It is my fishing and winter car. It is dusty as heck, the radio kind of works, it has seen a blizzard or two, and keeps running.
July 31, 2025
Mid AM started at 6:15 AM.
Finished at 6:37 AM
22:00 mins
I wore the ab stimulator during the actual workout.
Pre Workout:
Workout:
I am glad I reduced resistance. I will make another run. I seem to need to reduce less on resistance when I am starting to wear out. Then when I push ahead I seem to make headway with slightly more resistance.
This is the first summer in? Where I have not lost weight. I think the traveling, reunions, weddings, laziness all add up. Plus trail mix, ice cream with peach syrup, three lunches like Hobbits, and the occasional Mickie’s drive-thru do not help. I have quit sugary soda. I have stopped putting C&H sugar cubes in my coffee.
I also think I did get the long COVID. Everyday, around 1:00 PM I go down for the count. Just exhausted. I would understand if I were pouring concrete. I am not.
I guess the one consistency is my resistance training sessions.
My training partner did not even get off the couch. In fact when I woke I found him sprawled on top of me. Snoring in my ear. It would have been a great opening scene for a detective movie.
Well. See You Saturday!
I’m pretty sure we are still in July
Thanks…
I have to check the date on my watch every morning when I go to write the date in my workout book (same one you use). Can’t trust my memory that early in the morning.
When summer break arrives I have no idea. The sun comes up, the sun goes down. My goal in life when I retire is not to need to know the date. ![]()

I skipped keeping time. I moved with purpose, but not racing the clock.
Pre Workout
Workout
I shocked myself. I mounted my dip station and set a new, 60+ year old, dip record. (For me…) I managed a set of 12. Rep 12 was shaky, but I pushed through. The following two sets were cute. ![]()
I skipped incline curls. I will put in these next week.
Maybe a REHIT ride tomorrow.
I caught a trout yesterday. The eagle was there. Then suddenly about 100 sheep arrived. Only in Idaho.
