I have not reached 11 reps in my first set of dips in sometime. Between the dips, and finishing with the incline curls, I had quite a pump. Still (OK, I am only 10 minutes away from my last set…)
I have no more hearts to pass out today . Just know I read through these and am amazed at the dudes and dudettes who are out there!
I was stiff and sore last evening after my good session yesterday morning. DOMS soreness. I stayed at my daughter’s new home. The guest room has a new bed. I went down about 9:00 PM, and slept until 5:00 AM. Amazing how a good night’s sleep can help reduce DOMS. I still have some soreness, but nothing horrible.
I did the opposite, sort of…great workout on Friday, then Saturday early drove 3 hours to a 2.5 hour dance recital, then stood/sat around eating pizza and ice cream cake for 3 hours before getting back in the car for the 3 hours home. DOMS combined with almost no movement for an entire day…yuck.
Although I slept great last night and all seems recovered!

*Was sleepy, did shoulder press instead of behind neck press.
I was a bit worn last week. Two straight evenings of no sleep kicked my duff. I felt better this morning. I might fish this morning. I caught my first rainbow of the year on Saturday!
Total reps were way up. Incline press deserves an increase in resistance next week.
A long road trip starting today. We used to drive this in a day. Now we"ll probably stop in Lovelock, and finish the drive tomorrow. Hopefully Donner Pass is not busy.
On a side note, I heard In the Ghetto the other day, by chance. I have not heard Elvis in years? I even recalled the first time I heard that song. I was working on a log crew in the Gros Venture wilderness in Wyoming. An AM station out of Saskatoon. The miracle of AM radio. When the sun went down I picked up the Giants games on KNBR.
We have arrived. Stayed in a dump Wednesday evening in Winemmucca. We have a beautiful place to stay here in California to make up for it. And I brought adjustable dumbbells.
Way to get after it on the road! I used to be the king of travel workouts back when I traveled for work. The last time I went out of town I brought one 40 lb dumbbell and my doorway pull-up bar. Got in a nice workout in my hotel room. Enjoy the wedding!
Let’s hope today goes better than the rehearsal dinner. My sister started the beer about 10:00 AM. “To be a little relaxed…”. By 5:00 PM she was darned near falling down. Then, I heard her drunken whisper, " They’re all Latinos!". By 7:00 PM she was pouring herself into the driver’s seat. I told her she is not driving. “I am fine!” She slurred. I said, “Give me the god-damned keys!” What do you know? She handed them over. So, I am guessing despite 100+ °F, things can only look up. Thank you for the thought!
The wedding turned out well. After all of the pre wedding drama. My sister approached me wedding day and had the juevos to say, “I don’t appreciate how you talked to me last night.”. I started to look up from what I was doing and caught my daughter’s eye. She gave a slight shake of the head. I walked away. My sister found the beer. Sometimes it is good to walk away. But 100+ people showed to send the newlyweds off. Not bad for a 5:00 PM outdoor, hot as wedding.
Sunday myself, wife, and daughter, drove to Sacramento for the Athletics versus Blue Jays! The A’s won. I even tolerated the heat.
Yesterday my brother and I visited Mercy General (for those familiar with the Sacramento hospital scene…). Our lifelong pal had quadruple bypass surgery. He looked OK. He looked less OK when they brought his lunch: steamed broccoli, steamed potato nuggets, some kind of grilled cheese on whole wheat bread, and 1% milk. We howled at him when he let us know the previous evening’s dinner consisted of… Tofu. He had never had tofu before. . On the way home we snapped a photo of a Mickie Dee’s and texted it to him. My wife said it was too soon for that. One oddity, I thought, they IDd my brother and I before we could do any visiting. Scanned our driver’s licenses. Welcome to civilization I guess.
He seems to be recovering well though.
I am signing out until I get to Elko, or home. I have a German Shepherd waiting to play ball.
