All good. Good pump. The free weights plus shock ring resistance is good. Lower back a bit gingerly on squats. Good stamina. A good session. A good pace.
New book: George Meade: The Price of Command. I have fallen into a Civil War rabbit hole. There is too much to know. Meade is making a slight comeback. We forget, for three days in July 1863, Meade possibly saved Lincolnās bacon. And the Union
About eight years ago I was driving through PA for work and had an hour or two to spare so I stopped at Gettysburg battleground. I didnāt have a lot of time so I drove to a few of the different spots, one of which was Little Round Top. I was standing there, up on the hill, looking out over the battleground, and an older gentleman walked out and stood next to me. He seemed to have appeared out of nowhere and after a brief hello he began to explain some incredible details of the battle and how that vantage point was particularly important. Iāll never forget him pointing to a car over a mile a way and telling me how the cannons could have easily hit that car with reliable accuracy (from over a mile away). We then gazed down over the battlefield (much closer) and I could only imagine what unfolded down there. And just as quickly and mysteriously as he appeared, he disappeared. Iām not saying he was a ghost, but he sure knew how to make a seamless entrance and an exit. It was an incredible experience and one that I will never forget.
My daughter just moved to Morgantown, WV to attend the University of West Virginia for her masterās degree. (audiology) I think my wife and I are flying out this summer for a visit. They are two hours from Gettysburg. I think we are making the drive. Living in the high desert I am not looking forward to the humidity. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Edit: Still listening to Grant Moves South by Bruce Catton. A week +/- before Christmas break. I guess someone decided I should get the orneriest group of teenagers they could put together for this block. I told them yesterday I was handing out Benadryl today. āThat would put us to sleep!ā, was a response I heard. Yeaā¦
My boss was a lineman at Idaho State University some years back. He walked in my room last week, told me he had not been in a weight room since college. Then he asked me what he should do to start up again?
I told him, I am a full body workout kind of guy. Nothing fancy. You folks know. He asked about split routines. I said I have rarely used them, but after a bit he might dig them. Anyway, I wrote out my three day a week workouts and wished him luck.
Thatās cool that he recognized you for your progress. He has been removed from weight training for a long time and is now about back to square one. Starting that path again after a few decades requires some smart and calculated decisions. Very cool that he asked you for advice.

I used part elastomer, part shock rings for resistance. The rep count changed with a change in resistance. But, in all, it turned out to be a good session. I have the swole going on. Shaky hands.
I had a student ask me yesterday if I was taking steroids. I guess if Coke, doughnuts, and Famous Daveās Spicy/Sweet pickle spears count as steroids, he caught me. On another note, at least someone has caught on that I have been resistance training.
If I had to make an all-time outfield, Rickey would be in it. Iām going Ruth, Williams, and Henderson. I grew up watching him. We all know about his steals, but he had power too.
