How are your squats feeling? Think all of your wall squat drilling is helping?

It felt like I was sitting back more yesterday, but without my camera I can’t tell if I hit proper depth.

so did that last workout count as “5” of the 5-3-1? I’m tryin to get my shit together so I dont die. [/quote]

alexus - sprog is my niece and my heart.

MIM- yup, totally snatched the weight up there, found my balance and sashayed around the room. The snatch was rather easy at this weight and now I’m wondering what my previous PR was. I’m thinking I can beat it. Watch out Godzilla-snatch!

OH WE WILL BE WATCHING, don’t you worry!

And glad that you’re squat seems to be feeling better.

Ever since the meet my bench balls have been totally deflated. It seems I just can’t get my game head on properly. I watched my easy 135 x 5 in awe trying to get inspired. I realized today, after I had finished with my benching of course, that I’m not keeping my lats tight and I have zero leg drive. I know how to do this. Now to remind my body…

Bench:
bar x 12
105 x 5
120 x 3
130 x 2 - pathetic. I was repping out 8 a while back…
115 x 5

Barbell military press
60 x 5
70 x 3
75 x 5 - happy with those at least.
55 x 12

Dumbell snatch:
35 x 1
40 x 1,
50 - no go. wth? I did this before. my previous PR.
45 x 1
50 - no go twice. fuck this! Disturbed on full blast:

50 x 1 - Damn right Bitch! (might have actually said this out loud in my commercial gym. oups)
55 - no go. grrrr.
52.5 x 1 PR!
Not the one I wanted but I’ll take it. Next time I’ll snatch first thing while I’m fresh.
35lbs 6 x 5 - done speedy for a crazy finisher.

There aren’t many places to snatch heavy weights safely in my gym. The best place I’ve found is beside the roman chair with the wall at my back in case I don’t control the dumbbell properly. While I was snatching my stuff 2 guys actually used the roman chair and threw their legs in my face. The gym was empty - I wanted to rant that I could find 20 ab workouts in 30 seconds that didn’t involve their feet in my face. Should have just thrown the dumbbell at them: “sorry buddy, didn’t see you”. As I was going for my 55 PR one of them started doing quarter dips like some energizer bunny - poor chair was getting some piss poor hump action. At this point it was all I could do to not laugh and decided to be happy with my 52.5. 55 will be mine though. A simple matter of time.

Quickie recipe:

spread hanfull of asparagus on baking dish
douse in good olive, salt and pepper
broil for 10 minutes
add halved cherry tomatoes and crack 2-3 eggs on top
broil for 5 minutes.

the french tend to eat their eggs runny so cook longer if you want your egg cooked solid.

easy and delicious.

if you aren’t checking carbs use a nice crusty bread to mop up your plate.

Bonne appetit!

bench 130 x 2 - not feeling it.

for Kimba - millies 75 x 5 in yoga pants.

and in the spirit of failures my failed snatch. For some odd reason I had performance anxiety regarding this lift and failed whenever I had the camera on. So I packed it and focused on the DB.

You’re French…we expect nothing less!

Hmm. That sucks about the bench. Hope you get your groove back. Do you always keep your feet tucked in that tight?

The recipe sounds good, at any rate. (And I like a bit of Disturbed).
I have to say, that’s quite an eccentric bench set up. Good work on the millies.

oh hi there Frenchie, hows life?

Catching up. I just read your articles. You’ve got me thinking about my calcium needs and feeling some anxiety about all the Diet DP I drink. I know, but it’s such an awesome vice to have. I am happy that the lifting should be doing good things for our bone density. The other article is really good too. Wish I could convince some of my family members of these things.

Tell me more about this very interesting job where you do writing, and design, and drive all over the place.

The pictures of your kitchen, and now your dining room are just lovely. You’ve got a beautiful home. I like all the dark woods, and modern but eclectic look you’ve got going.

Thanks for putting up - and explaining - Millies. So far I really only do DB OH presses. And it’s getting boring so I need to move on. This will be a good move to add.

You’ll get your bench mojo back, no worries. Speaking of bench, the little scoot you do right after you sit down is uber cute.

Oh gym idiots. Their ranks are deep and wide, they seem to be everywhere at once and at all hours of the day and night. I try to lump then in with the crappy music as part of the authentic gym experience. grin

Finally, it makes me so so happy to see legit female lifters. Keep on keepin’ on Frenchie.

Form looked good on the milies. I had a bit of a strength drop on bench after my meet too so it might be a common thing. I’m back about right so you should be back to form soon enough.

lots happening in here. snatches can be a bit temperamental, i reckon. congrats on the PB!! niece… think that makes her 1/4 genetically yours… or maybe not… she sure is a cutie, anyway. asparagus… yum… (runs off to fetch more food). great pressing, too.

Greenies: Mais oui ma cherie!

Nadia - I’m not very flexible in the groin/hip area and wide feet spreads make my legs cramp. I will admit that the feet were particularly narrow in this one. I’'l try to remember to ground them farther apart next week.

Cal - eccentric bench set up was copied from others with great benches such as PMPM. Basically all the clowning around is to get the biggest arch possible and to secure the lats.

DF - fist pump and I sing this with great Geeky Enthusiasm

When we all give the power
We all give the best

Kristophe - will do with great joy despite it all.

Joe - Glad to hear it. Already I know how to fix a few things and move right along. Perhaps not my max. But dammit I know I can add 20 pounds to that bar.
