I managed to drag my butt to the gym yesterday - about freakin time.
decided to do squats powerlifting style with plenty of rest between sets. I’m ashamed to say this took me an hour.
stretched achiles, calves, hamstrings, hips
shoulder disclocates x12
body weight squates x12
95lbs 1x5
115lbs 1x5
135lbs 1x3 - added belt
155lbs 1x3
185lbs 2x1 - I haven’t been above 135 since my latest “rehab” so kinda happy.

Note:
-I will wear shorts under my jogging pants on squat day just so I can vid and see if depth is okay. I fear not.

I fold over like a wet leaf. I’m guessing I need a stronger core. Ab exercises on my to do list

Wish I could say it was a good session but mostly I felt like a golem trying to do ballet. UGh!
On the 2nd set of the 185 I also stayed “stuck” for a few seconds, which felt like minutes, but I managed to push through.

I think you are right about the elbows. If you had driven them forward coming out of the hole you’d have popped up faster. Still it was a good lift.

Drat! It’s terrible, but when you wrote that you folded over like a wet leaf when you squatted, I thought ah ha, if frenchie folds over than maybe my squats aren’t so terrible. But damn you! Your squats are pretty and hardly folded over at all. Your attention to form has paid off. 185 looked awesome to me.
N, listen to me here, that 185 was solid. Depth was good, you didn’t stall you just squeaked past your sticking point WHICH IS GREAT! Don’t think of it as scary; if you’ve never failed on squats you aren’t trying hard enough (in my book). That’s what the safety bars are there for, to catch the weight and keep it from smashing you into the ground.
When you realize you’re not making a lift (ie it’s coming back down) just maintain your form like you would dropping into the hole of the squat and let the bar rack itself on the pins. Then you just slip out behind it, look around at the crowd and say “What? You think YOU can do that?!?!” while throwing your hands up. Hell, I fail all the time squatting, I’ll even do it tonight, just for you, k?
You kicked that squats’ ass. Recover, and do it again next time.
