Frenchie's Fromage

Way to show that 225 who’s boss!

Great read and
Great training!!

Good work on the pulls, extra credit for fighting through a miss.

yes. the grunt makes the lift.

just please, don’t take to barking BEFORE you lift. that’s reserved for the big boys and the attention starved.

Excellent stuff on the 225 – never be skerred to grunt, totally essential. If I dont grunt my head feels like it will explode!

Totally cool.

Yummy recipe, great article and kick-ass deads!

You like, so totally rock Squirt! =D

currently enjoying chocolate pp mixed with coconut milk and a little water.

HELLO BABY

where have you been all my life :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Decided to brave the nasty storm and head out to my powerlifting gym. Figured a storm would keep most people away and the gym would not be crowded. Good call although I felt like I was controlling a runaway sled on the roads. Good thing the gym is only 2 minutes from my place.

Bench warmup - the numbers are weird cause we were working in kg. I did the math for myself.
bar 1x12
66lbs 1x12
88lbs 1x12
working set 100lbs 4x6 60% max effort - after yesterdays deads and having maxed out a couple weeks ago coach figured this would be a smart effort.
3x1 100lbs to practice meet calls

Superset 1:
light squats bar 1x12, 95lbs 3x5 -form form form.
with fatman pullups on gymastic rings 4x10 -fun and a challenging switchup
and orange band facepulls 4x20

Superset 2:
side planks for 30 seconds 2x each side
with sled drags 225lbs 2x4 lengths of the gym - I left my lungs on the floor.

This kicked my butt. Glad to be back in the game and I still have a spot for the meet March 5th. She’ll be ordering a singlet, wrist wraps and knee wraps for me.

points:
bench - make sure my feet are not angled out too much or they will role and red lights will ensue
squat - do not tippy toe when I take my big breath, rather than moving my chest up, think of opening it up and moving shoulders back.

positives:
bench still strong
squats have progressed - sitting back more. she mentionned box squats, I might throw those into my routine again.

It’s great you have a coach to help you through your first meet!

What day in March? Ours is March 12 (oops gotta send in the registration - you too snapper!)

March 5th for me.

and they have strongman comp a week or 2 after that I will be volunteering for - great chance to see the show.

Yup, lots of squat rehab went on tonight! Nice job. That is so great that you are doing a meet! And that we get to see you in a singlet.

I really want to drag a sled sometime.

a meet!!! EE!! yeai!!! singlet pictures for sure!

And knee socks.

Beautiful pics and a beautiful story. Felt like I was diving, too. I guess that is why I’m doing this. To gain some kind of mastery. Doing something scary and eventually not being scared. Nothing to fear but fear itself. Inspiring. Thank you.

Hey Frenchie!

Love the write up of the trip girlie. Of course this is the line that struck me the most. Lol!

Good work getting back into the gym! That was a smooth transition. And pulling 225 after a few weeks off is super impressive. Well done!

And how cool that you have someone to coach you through the meet! new gear is the best! no? Just adds to arsenal of badassry. Cannot wait for singlet pic  woo hoo!

Sled drags? So jealous! I want!

knee socks there will be.
and singlet pictures.

don’t be jealous of the sled - it has left my body in shambles this morning. I’m just a big hurt on 2 legs. There must be foam rolling tonight.

You tried dips with those rings yet? Add an entirely different dimension to it.

not yet - I tried having a little fun with them but I was too burnt out. I’ll try the dips first thing next week and let you know how bad I fail. lol.

It can be very humbling, just giving you a fair warning. I know every time I do them I am left shaking my head in disgust, wondering what the eff is wrong with me… I need to do them a whole lot more I guess :stuck_out_tongue:

Ugh! sounds tortuous! I say, if you can hold yourself up for 30 secs, that’s an accomplishment in itself.
