Frenchie's Fromage

Good to hear you are making some progress with your squat, it’s not all that bad. You use a lot of quad and back to get the heavy loads up, that’s all ( : Once you find your happy place with bar placement and learn to flex your butt more it’ll be fixed, it won’t take long. Wrist wraps help a lot, I can’t lift without them.

As for your poll, I think it comes down to a simple concept: an athlete trains for performance, nothing else. If your goal is to lift heavier, jump higher, throw further, run faster etc. and the training reflects only these goals, then I would consider you an athlete or at least of an athletic mindset. Any other goal is for vanity, and that’s fine, some people make a living off how their bodies look. I’d choose performance over vanity any day, it’s a forever goal because I can always improve. the word “maintenance” never comes into play, and anyways, if you are only maintaining your body, you are not improving it, and chances are over time one would begin to regress.

By the way I’m a gym rat/acquarius with a baccus ascendent. That’s the blend that creates a crazy frenchie

LOL!! Well I’m a Cancer w/a pot of she-crab soup on the stove, 2 frozen mugs, 6 pack of Guinness, & patiently waiting for the SEC championship game.

HA! We sound like a match made anywhere but heaven. <<<— insert smiley face emoticon here.

Yep, most likely.

well I’d definitely have to say that i have always stuck performance before looks, and the looks have always been a great side effect. The way that you feel about the girls on the home page is the same way that i feel about the pictures of the huge Bodybuilder guys. I would NEVER want to look like that, and I honestly think most of the guys around here would agree.

I would never want to be so big that it begin in inhibit action. That is just stupid. What am I going to do? FLEX a terrorist to death?!?

giggle good one Alpha! lol

Aquariuses rock!!!

soldog - thanks for checking up on me. It was not all perfect but I had a few that were deemed nice. My wrists get achy from holding the bar with my elbows down but I’ve ordered wraps which I hope will help my with this.
I’m still not sitting back enough but I just need to get my hammies stronger and activate that lazy butt. Basically with this technic in mind I’ve had to adopt a wider squat stance, feet pointed out and really push against the ground to keep my knees from caving. stretching regularly everyday has also helped. Basically I’ve progressed in the past 2 weeks. So that’s good stuff. I’ll try to get a camera set up next friday so you guys can see the difference in what’s happening.

Masch - Cheers to my favouritist soccer-babe! said kinda slurry in broken in speakenglish

to wrap your head around what I am doing basically if you watch LP’s vid on her first page the first lift is her squat and she does not simply “drop” in the hole as I was doing. Her posterior chain is active on the way down AND the way up. squeezing my butt was not enough because it didn’t engage the hammies. By really pushing feet/legs down and out I activate those sleepy muscles and call them to attention.

edit: reason coach wants my posterior chain activated on the way down is because I do want to be carrying the heavy weight eventually and my previous method would have gotten me hurt, she mentionned squashed like a bug in the hole. and the knees would def pay for it in the long run.[/quote]

Hey I knew you’d be making progress - I just wanted the next installment of coaching…

That cue about engaging the posterior chain on the way DOWN is a great one.

Just to prove my worth. She-crab w/backfin & lump, topped w/Old Bay & a ice cold Guinness. Ain’t nothin better on a 30 degree night.

As for the “whats your sign” talk, I don’t really buy into that. Though I will readily admit I have had this discussion w/a gorgeous woman who has a beautiful mind, who believes in it. After more than a few discussions on this topic, I still think it’s mumbo jumbo but it does have its merits. I was surprised how she nailed me solely on sign alone.

Be interesting to hear what you & the other ladies think about it? Does each sign have its own signatures?

^No clue as to why pic didn’t show?!

Joe - I def agree with the “image” of athlete but as you mentionned, not all athletes look that way.

That’s why I like Diana’s version: training for performance. Performance is NOT only about PR’s but simply getting better, better form, better stamina, better game.

Print- I am IN for the crab soup  I didn’t think Guiness was an item in the hot climates. It’s big in my household especially in winter. And by the way, I aint made for heaven

Alpha - you can always flex one my way and I can pretend to blush and faint like a mademoiselle from the 1800’s. “Oh My!” thump

Greenies - you just made me think of a kichy song

soldog - engaging the posterior chain going down is a big piece missing in my puzzle, but I just didn’t know. Hence I’m learning still. I kinda like that.

Print - not sure if I’m more jelly of the food or the weather. Care to adopt an eskimo? I was teasin when I mention signs. It’s like the old adage nature or nurture. My mom had all those books at home as I was growing up so am I a true acquarious by birth or by education? I just don’t like the idea that destiny is not yours to hold and shape. Never read those in the paper unless its to have a good laugh. yes I do find myself in the description of an aquarius, but they tend to be flattering and general so why not?

yesterday had fun taking family pics of the brother and his family but they got here late - around 3pm and left at 4:00 because they had a supper date. Didn’t turn out as I planned , but I rolled with it.

For supper the hubbie and I decided we needed an “Adventure!!!” (I love flapjack). So we seeked out a new place to try out in our neighborhood. We drove 10 minutes to this English Pub calle the Burgandy Lion near Atwater and were very pleased.

Atmosphere: old english pub meet modern urban trash
Food: there was muscle soup in cream and cider, cheese scones, the best fish and chips I’ve had in Montreal, Lancashire Pie (lamb and veg mmmmm) and a couple of pints of english brown ales. Dessert: Sticky Toffee Pudding!!! seriously. where have you been my whole life!.. had a good time and great food. I did the “smart Kimba” and ate 1/4 of the soup, half the lamb pie and 2/3 of the pudding. Hence no sicky bloated feeling.

Now I gotta run, Its the b-day party of my other neice today.

cheers
N

Guinness is big in my house during the winter months. Anything dark & thick works for me. As a matter of fact woke up this morning to snow… HA! this is Va. Beach not Buffalo!

You not being made for heaven is the exact reason I like you so.

Enjoy the b-day party.

holy hungry hippos Mainy, I go on a vacation and you fill up ten pages of log…I feel inadequate.
Keep killin it!

I laughed at the “smart Kimba” remark.

I got a second birthday dinner yesterday and the only bad thing I did was attempt to finish an ENORMOUS Manhattan. Srsly, I cannot hold my liquor and shouldn’t try. The rest of the meal (grilled wild salmon with cajun spices, brown rice, bacon braised greens) was both healthful and delicious. I did have a bite of sticky toffee pudding and it was excellent! So funny that were both introduced to that on the same night.

Showing restraint around good food is not one of my gifts. Although, it would be nice to learn.

Print - my fav dark brew is Leffe. Can’t really pin down why but it really does it for me.

Plucky’s got her pluck back!!

kimba - introduced to sticky toffee and the same night?!? that is mighty weird. cue twiligt zone but since it turned out so good I will see it as a positive sign of many good things to come.

Nadia- I have puked up my excess through my freakin nose so many times its a miracle I haven’t learned earlier. I have a pussy stomach and blowing chunks through my nose is NOT fun. But I love good food so damn much I find it hard to resist. With a supper that included garlic and onions, cream coffee and dessert, well I had to make choices.

How was the party? Did you save me a piece of cake??

I took a picture of my dinner tonight and posted it in my log. I felt just like you, N, without the accent

x-mas theme pic from sat.
