He was a professor and is a significant historical figure. And he never admitted he was a murderer or terrorist as far as I know. I’m not saying I would agree with him because terrorists always think they are good guys, but facts still matter.
But he is still an historical figure and whether or not you agree with him, at least you would judge him taking his side into consideration.
What is Milo’s historical significance? Why does he want to speak at colleges anyway? If a student body sees no value in Milo coming to speak, and there really isn’t any value in hearing him speak, then they should exercise their right to have him banned. I don’t agree with the violence involved but that is exactly what Milo wants so he shouldn’t complain. And that’s another reason why he should be banned.
Is Ayers going to instigate violence by talking about the Vietnam War or assassination of RFK?
If she didn’t do it then she was the opposite of deadly serious.
Exactly. We need to go to the internet to see what’s really going on because we don’t see it for real. Some of these campuses have 20,000 or more students. If you see 100 protesting something, that tells you that it really isn’t that popular a movement. Speaking of Youtube, that “lecture” Milo gave at UMass with the infamous Trigglypuff or whatever, is an example of what I mean. How many students were in that hall vs how many students attend that university? Not only that, Trigglypuff girl wasn’t even a student at UMass. There must be well over 50,000 college students in the Amherst area and there were a couple of hundred in that lecture hall. And not all were even there to protest.
Except to speak at a university there’s a group that invites you, or at least attends the speech. Those tuition-paying students wanted to hear Milo. The firebomb mob didn’t want to let them. I didn’t violently protest Ayers when he showed up at my school, I just didn’t go see him.
Well it isn’t my money once I pay it to the university now is it? If they want to pay the ancient aliens guy to speak or David Duke, there’s nothing I can do to force them to not spend money on speakers I don’t like. I can write angry letters, I can peacefully assemble and protest, I can run for the University board of governors to change their policies. But that money isn’t mine the moment I pay for the services they’re rendering.
I wasn’t there. NBC claims 1,500. They smashed storefront windows and set shit on fire. How many violent people do you need before it’s dangerous?
Conservatives riot and loot over media driven political narratives all the time. For every Ferguson, Baltimore and run of the mill campus disturbance, there’s surely some conservatives out there violently getting their point across.
Yes it is. You do have a say when it comes to how the university spends.
And how many were outsiders? I was at a school when some students staged a protest (non-violent sit in) and students from other colleges were bused in to reinforce the numbers.
Characterizing those events as left wing, political riots is silly. There is a whole different dynamic there from purple haired chicks crying about hate speech. It’s also rather bigoted to assume that black people are all liberals. I’m sure some of those in Ferguson have very different opinions on gays and transexuals than the radical left’s official handbook.
Funny. Didn’t see that I got any real input into the governance of the school in the student handbook. Looks like it’s time to re enroll and vote $1,000,000 to be paid to directly to me from the multi billion dollar endowment.
Not a student Senate with the power to control the speaking schedule of every department at the university. Student government… much powah. They call all the shots.
Plus if 51% of people want to hear from a bomber and 49% don’t. I guess they’re SOL.
But this doesn’t matter anyway. You’re deflecting. Somehow you’re claiming it’s alright to invite Ayers because some students want to hear him and not alright to invite Milo because some students want to hear him?
The political violence used to get UC Berekely to capitulate was okay because some of the violence was bussed in?
Well you keep shifting the goalposts is part of the issue. I responded to you talking about lack of impulse control and letting it control behavior.
Maybe you like what Warren etc say less than Trump but to me it’s clear when you look at how they behave which person has more trouble controlling impulses and emotions.
My post was in response to that point you made nothing to do with what people actually propose. I’ll be honest I don’t know if I even know an adult who has the lack of impulse control and emotional reactions that Trump has.
That’s disingenuous to say she wasn’t serious. She certainly wasn’t joking. Just because to the best of my knowledge nothing happened with her murdering or attacking men, doesn’t mean she didn’t mean it when she said it. She probably didn’t own an uzi, or any other firearm, but how is anyone else to know this. Hell she’s a heroin addict, moves in shady circles, how would you know she didn’t have a gun?
At this time in Australia gun laws were a lot weaker than they are now after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996(they are incredibly strict now).
If someone handed her a firearm when she was spouting that crap, men would have been running out of that lecture hall, like Usain Bolt at a 100m final.
In this day and age if a man made such casual threats about wanting to shoot women(or anyone else), they would be getting a visit from the Police. They would likely to be in a lot of trouble whether or not they actually possessed firearms.
100 fringe students protesting may not be very representative of the broader population at a uni, but its enough to stifle or even shutdown free speech when the administration, or the police won’t act. I suspect the admin won’t do anything because some departments are so full of neo Marxists they endorse the minority views.
Some of Trump’s tweets are cringy and not presidential to be sure but you saying you don’t know any adults with his level or lack thereof of impulse control is suspect.
A ton of celebrities, anti white sjw psychotics, athletes, political types, etc… All say equally stupid and often times vastly more inappropriate shit. These cretins have influenced soft headed idiots
