So… A foreign gay guy (isn’t the left the party of tolerance?) that’s married to a foreign black guy (another leftist approved “victim”) that gets routinely smeared, libelled, slandered and, at times, shut down by leftist slime nut jobs doesn’t fit the thread starter’s topic ? Regardless of your opinion of Milo it’s germane to the topic.
What about it when some man hating feminists, or trans rights activist, or radical race activist comes to speak at a University, spouting hatred and division, to the broader community? The universities do nothing, even if the speaker promotes violence, or racism against white people or Asians.
Almost all Universities get some kind of public funding or subsidy, they should uphold basic decency.
Many universities are just breeding grounds for these hate filled psychotic losers. Funny you never see (to my knowledge anyway) conservatives shutting these down. Too bad they don’t extend the same courtesy.
It really seems the left, by and large, are very emotionally overwrought and have no impulse control as regards letting their insane emotions control their behavior.
At least this seems like something major. It wasn’t some worker used the n word once or something and they didn’t immediately fire him.
Funny you mention this as the only place I can actually remember boycotting is BP since their incident. I’ve gone a few times when the other options weren’t there but for the most part I haven’t gone since.
I do disagree with Trump (didn’t vote for him) at times and certainly wish he’d stop with some of his petty bullshit, but c’mon… He’s not nearly as unhinged or intolerant as the left.
I’m principled. I don’t engage in Oppression Olympics bullshit, identity politics, religious fanaticism, tit for tat nonsense, cherry picking, etc… It’s just my own observation that the left is off the rails with this shit
My response was to this. Who even comes close to Trump in regards to this on the left? Trump may have the lowest impulse control in the history of humans.
The right and alt right haven’t exactly been nice to him either. They are the ones who canceled him.
And you missed the point. The point is that why should he have some right to speak in an academic environment when he lacks academic credentials? Why should he have the right to speak there when by his own admission it’s to create a hostile environment?
Really ? Lieu, Nadler, Waters, Warren and any number of leftist muppets. I think Trump is a blow hard and often crass but I also think these people are far more dangerous in their rhetoric and hyperbole.
Yet, you are quick to label and make assumptions. Milo became irrelevant when his right wing buddies didn’t like his homosexual view on being homosexual. When Ben Shapiro stood up for a fellow employee at Breitbart, the alt right went full antisemite on him.
A baker refuses to bake a homosexual cake because of some sky fairy.
A woman at a city hall refuses to issue a marriage license to a gay couple because she thinks that sin is worse than all of those she has committed so she is the Jesus police. And Mike Huckabee shows up to rally behind her.
Trump was a birther… What more is there to day about that?
Yeah, the left is so unhinged. You’re all batshit crazy.
Labels are fair when the person being labelled has earned it via their actions, beliefs, etc… Right, left, liberal or conservative. If the shoe fits…
Trump has certainly earned criticism. Many conservatives have, as well. I simply believe the left and their beliefs and actions have far more dire consequences.
The birther shit was lame and embarrassing. Im not religious and disliked the gay cake crap but what I dislike more is government selectively compelling people to do things contrary to their beliefs. But I’ll take that over the left’s myriads of lunacy
Most people don’t know what those terms really mean.
The problem is those beliefs and actions you describe as left are from a few people who have either been labeled the left, and maybe even consider themselves the left, but are not. Antifa? How many people who post here have actually seen an Antifa member in real life?
The right tries to exaggerate these fringe elements but when someone from the left mentions the rise of white supremacy and white nationalism on the right, they downplay it. Both sides have their crazies and both sets of crazies would be a danger but for the fact they are so few.
Fair enough. Reasonable points. But at the same time if you’re a Brett Weinstein or the guy clocked by the bike lock I’d say those booger men are very relevant. Or any victims of some right wing group of cretins.
Gonna have to call BS on this take. My alma mater has invited Bill Fucking Ayers to speak. Not a scholar, but an admitted murderer and terrorist. He’s 1000 percent worse than a conservative provocateur on his “dangerous f*****” tour.
If Bill Ayers can speak, then they shouldn’t burn Berkely down when Milo shows up.
I personally witnessed a lunatic, self confessed heroine addict, lesbian photographer as a guest speaker doing a presentation at Uni that she “wanted to kill every man that she saw with an uzi”. She was not making a joke either, she was deadly serious. That was around 1994-95.
Soon after she was hired in the Visual Arts Dept as teaching staff. I mentioned this eg in an earlier post.
Plenty of instances on YouTube, if they haven’t been banned and removed. One guy came into a gender/women’s study lecture, and was filming it. The women were basically plotting to take down the Patriarchy, and when they discovered this man was filming them, they harassed this man and blocked him from filming. Before being confronted he was being quiet and non disruptive. He was then subsequently escorted out by security at the women’s behest. Of course the guards happened to be men, Patriarchy and all. Funny how oppressed these women are by the Patriarchy.
Canada is especially bad for crazy shit at universities. Janince Fiamengo posts quite a bit about the scene.
