This is what I had mentioned above. That was Cortes’ ONLY mistake.
I haven’t finished reading this discussion (I go to bed in Japan and wake up to three more pages of posts!), but I’ll comment quickly.

Yes, ID, you are completely correct. I clearly should have kept my mouth shut about anything related to steroids. I did not realize it would become such a big deal. Honestly, I don’t think it matters to the discussion and the only reason I DID mention it is because I know how people jump all over somebody for exactly this sort of thing and I’ve never made any secret of my use (I can’t, at this point, as I have threads stickied all over the steroid forum).

Anyway you can see here that I was not incorrect in my assumptions, though I suppose I invited the firestorm directly, when I might have avoided it.

Anyway, I don’t see what there is left to argue at this point. I have said my thing. I think a lot of guys who’ve gotten big naturally (they DO exist) would agree with what I’ve said. If you have a bigger, more muscular body, your metabolism is not going to be the same as when you were 40 lbs of muscle smaller at the same body fat percentage.

Also, as was mentioned, I may have to eat a huge amount and be careful what food I select to reach a certain weight, but once I’m AT that weight, the game has changed. This has absolutely nothing to do with steroids, which, again, may seem magical, but are not magic.

Whatever misconceptions I may have fostered with my initial post I think I cleared up in subsequent posts. Let me know if anyone still think I don’t know what I’m talking about.

I think you are totally correct. Also, the other arguments about short term changes to ones diet having no effect in the long term, or that after gaining 30lbs of mscle ones body wont react the same way are irrelevant.
Irrelevant? If I can literally eat donuts twice a week without concern as opposed to when I was much smaller, you say this is “irrelevant”?
doughnuts twice a week doesnt sound much of a worsening. but ok, I’ll play, making small bad changes wont make a noticable difference. Making many bad changes will.
Except that no one, anywhere, is saying this. So add “irony” to “irrelevant.”

Wow.

You train for big muscles. You don’t train for height. I am not sure what this post is even trying to say.
you understand very well. A person can only truly see things from their own perspective and a person who is naturally good at something cannot understand why others find the same thing so difficult

But…who here was “naturally good” at getting really big? I wasn’t. I worked for it.
my point exactly.if you are good at something (and you clearly are good at getting big) you cant really see things from the pov of one not so good at getting big. you dont even realise that you are good at it, you think its all down to work ethic

you think you are not, but clearly you are. you just dont know it because it felt hard to you

Idiocy.

You know better than Prof X how difficult it was for Prof X to get big?

Actually, I don’t know that it really was a mistake, but I could be at risk of talking out of my ass now.

After consulting a couple of docs about TRT, it seems that an unassisted early 20 year olds androgen levels would be about what an assisted late 30’s to 40 year old would be trying to achieve.

To many unknowns to speculate further, but Cortes and Frank could very well be in the same ballpark, androgen level wise.
Although it’s impossible to know Frank’s androgen levels without blood tests, it’s much more likely that he meant assisted as in taking TRT, not someone actually cycling (or blasting/cruising) steroids. I also don’t know what Cortes does, but in nearly all cases, a 30-40 year old steroid user (not one taking TRT due to low testosterone, but one taking anabolic steroids for the purpose of muscle/strength gain etc) will be taking a much higher dose of testosterone than an unassisted early-twenties man produces.
Heh, while I’m being honest, no, I’m not taking TRT dosages most much of the time.

Awesomeness.

Cortes- I feel like we are not really in disagreement on most things and I wasn’t specifically calling you out with my original post to frank about considering his sources when taking advice.

I would consider you a good source.

Also, I don’t think I was jumping all over you, attacking you or belittling your accomplishments with my posts… Did you feel like I was?

It is, isn’t it ;)? In a sadistic way I thought it was funny at certain parts…

No, I didn’t get that feeling. I am probably a bit sensitive because there ARE a lot of guys on this site who will use a history of steroid use as carte blanche to shit all over the accomplishments or advice of that poster.

Question? what do you call the person who graduated from med school with the poorest exam results?
Answer. Doctor.

my point is that being a doctor doesnt make on cleverer than someone in other professions

of course i dont know that. what im saying is that perhaps PX doesnt know how relatively easy he found it

but as I often say, I could be wrong

It makes them educated in how the body works…which you are now speaking on as if you have educational experience…and reaching incorrect conclusions.

When people who actually are trained in those areas speak on those areas, why do guys like you speak up so loudly?

LOL at this. You are trying way too hard to make it seem like getting really big is easy. If it were, there would be more guys like that walking around. I see very few today carrying enough muscle mass to equal a big pro football player unless they play football.

You do not know what you are talking about…and several people here have told you that now.

I have no formal medical training but have learned that people who do have formal training are not necessarily particularly gifted in the field they trained in.

things are rarely as black and white as you try to portray things. there are a million shades of grey. a million ways to do things. yours is no the only way. surely you learned that in medical school?

i didnt say it was easy, i said that you seem to be gifted at it. as such you couldnt possibly appreciate how difficult it is for others

X, how much did you weigh and at what age were you when you first started lifting?

BB, what is your definition of being “gifted” and why do you feel X fits this criteria?

Wait a minute… in one breath you discredit this doctor, yet you don’t seem to realize those “easy gains” you speak of had everything to do with his medical background and subsequent extensive knowledge of human biology.

You can just stop now because you sound like a dick.

150lbs at 5’10.5".

I am not sure why people think I didn’t use the medical info I learned to get big.

It sure as hell wasn’t easy. The average person won’t lift weights non-stop more than 5 days a week for over a decade without fail.

Now you say you didn’t say this.

You are wasting my time and everyone else’s.

Bottom line is ProfX is a big guy. He is telling you that it wasn’t ‘easy’. Just like you are saying he can’t appreciate how difficut it is for others…YOU are not appreciating how difficult it was for him.
