Fractured Hand

So I fractured my right (dominant)hand in 3 places during a football game on Friday night. I’m getting casted tomorrow. The point of this thread is to see if anyone has had this problem and if they found a way to still get some sort of workout in. I can do leg extensions, hamstring curl, calves, abs, cardio, etc.

Right now there is no way I can squat except for safety bar squats which I’m still thinking about. I don’t want my upper body to totally diminish so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

How are you typing?

With the other hand…

OP I have broken my wrist and a bone in my hand, albeit the non dominant hand. If your cast allows you light machine work will still be possible as long as the pressure isn’t too much on hand. SSB squats and leg presses or hack squats will be your best bet for leg work.

Your greatest hope would be if your gym has a pullover machine that you can comfortably operate if you want to keep upper body size. Good luck and don’t get too discouraged or hurt yourself trying to do too much.

There should have been a ! at the end of the “how are you typing?!” indicating surprise. I would find it hard to type with my left hand only.

I feel your pain, I tore my rotator cuff about 5 weeks ago and I’ve pretty much just been doing squats. I’m just now getting to the point where I can do some upper body work.

Yeah it would be a slow and tedious process. I’ve broken bones on both hands/arms and common things like typing become a test of patience.

thanks for the responses…its actually really frustrating typing with my left hand lol imagine typing papers with one hand…its also very frustrating wen i want to work out and cant…im just trying to find ways to keep active on non lower body days…i love free weights and hardly use machines but i guess theyll be my best friends for the next 6 weeks…

Same way as when you look at porn. Duh.

nutirtion wise, since i am unable to lift as much upper body as i would like, should i add calories, subtract cals, or keep them the same? I want to minimize the amount of muscle loss and was wondering which i should do
