Nice board presses, I also like how the missus was bailing out of the video the second you racked it.

Yep. She’s my girl. Always willing to help and likes to hang out in there when I am working out. I am guessing that she pulled back so quickly so I didn’t kick her when I rocked up off the bench
28 months ago, she wouldn’t have even let me catch her on film. She weighs 40% of what she did back then. Yes, that is correct. She lost 60% of her bw.

Back then, she could wrestle with me and almost hold her own. Now, I grab hold of her and military press her a few times…lol. Redneck foreplay.

Holy Crap it is working great for ya. Stick with the plan and jump 5!

Great Job Brother

Thanks, Colin. I think the heavy stuff I was doing earlier this year is what has helped the most. I didn’t reap the benefit at the time, but after a good deload, and working a little lighter again, I seem to have recovered from it and am stronger for it. Hopefully the lighter stuff will provide a nice change and keep the momentum rolling.

I am still frustrated with the estimated 1RM, though. All 3 weeks calculated out to 388# to 389#. There is absolutely no way. Even the 365# board press felt heavy as hell. I need a progression where I can hit new maxes without maxing  Where it is just part of the progression that I eventually get to. That will take a lot of patience, though.

Tell her congratulations on the weight loss. Have you tried to talk her into lifting?

Very nice presses.

Skip, you are strong like bull. Great work in here. Your presses are closing in on mu bench.

On a side note, I don’t think proper y’all usage depends on whether its plural or singular. For me, its a matter of mood and emphasis.

Compare: “Hey, how y’all doing?” with: “Ok, fuck all y’all.”

Then I had to explain to the mods why I did it as they suspected me of wanting to post as two people - which seems to be a weirdly common occurrence on the site. In the past, Headhunter and others have been caught starting arguments and supporting themselves in the fray using the other accounts they had in order to fake a majority opinion.[/quote]

WTF!
or rather What’s the Point of that?

Actually, I constantly try to get her in there with me. She just has no interest, though. The one time I succeeded in convincing her that it would be good for her and add some shape to her, she pulled a muscle doing DB overhead presses. That pretty much killed it.

I have not given up on my daughter, though. She is strong as an ox. She is 8 years old, about 4’6 and weighs 90#, but can do a couple of proper pushups, likes to play gymnast, can do monkey bars forever and carried her 45# brother about 100 yards, the other day, after he was assaulted by a wasp.
She loves sports. So, I am hopeful

Good point  And if you are referring to my military presses, I have a country mile before I near your bench weight. And when I get there, you will be long gone.

Catching up with ya again Skip. You are kicking ass and taking names! How did you fare with all the storms in OK? I hope all is well.

Thanks, Wilson.

We came out okay. Had a few strong gusts that took down 1 limb, but not much else. On the way in to work, this morning, I saw that, less than a mile from my house, several phone poles were snapped, most of the privacy fences were no longer providing privacy and several folks will be replacing shingles. The severe twister was about 15 miles south of us. Fortunately it was in an area that isn’t densely populated.
I think they said we ended up with 21 twisters, statewide.
Thanks for asking.

Do you guys watch storms? My wife like to do that. Especially when they are bad.

Watch them as in throw open the curtains and look out the window? Or go outside and check it out?
Oh yeah. My wife loves thunderstorms. The lightning gets here all wound up. For that matter, I really like thunderstorms as well.
The wind is a different story. As soon as the sirens went off, she and the kids were in the storm shelter. I, being an idiot guy, was outside looking for circulations. Because, let’s face it, it is cool. I did finally get in the shelter, though, to ease her mind.

I think she was a tad rattled, though. Right as she and my oldest son came out of the house to get in the shelter, a gust of wind caught her and slammed her into the side of the house. Bet she wishes she hadn’t lost quite so much weight

Glad you guys are ok. It must be cool/terrifying seeing a twister. I’d probably shit myself and cry like a schoolboy.

Thanks, Steve.
You cry? Nah…you’d most likely try to figure out how you could use that twister for some non-normative training

Seeing one from a distance is cool, except you worry for the folks who are over there. What I find cool, or interesting about it, is the movement of the clouds, before it becomes a tornado. The circulation, with clouds moving in different directions, instead all together.
Couple that with just the raw power of…AIR…of all things.
Supposedly the wind speed of the BIG one, back in '99, exceeded 300 mph. It obliterated everything in its path. It even pulled the grass out of the ground and aerated the soil, in places. Kind of like walking on a sponge.
That much power is just awe inspiring…and absolutely terrifying.

I would simply die from fascination, because I wouldn’t come in to safety.

My manager called me, during the midst of it, to make sure we were okay. He asked where I was and I said, “In the front yard, watching the circulation.” To which he replied, “Yep. Oklahoma spectator sport.” One of my neighbors was in his front yard, with his son, doing the same thing.

Make no mistake, though, if it came close, I am in the shelter. I never thought much about it before I was married with children. I do now.

Cycle 1 / Week 3 / Day 2 - Squats

It was one of those days. Drainage, raw throat, mild body aches and didn’t want to lift. Such is life.
Left quad is still giving me fits. Not sure what is up with it, but I am glad that a deload is coming up.
Everything felt way too heavy today.

Squats look powerful. Wish we could have seen the 405.

Just checking in to see how you faired the weather. Glad everyone came through all right.
