Fortune Favors the Bold

Joe - Speed is everything. If you are fast, and have any mass, you can go far.

Rug - Things sound really hectic there. I can see where you mojo is being spread thin. I just wish I could figure out why mine has. But “distracted” does seem to be the right word.

Thanks, bulldog! I knew I could count on you! I just hope it gets me going.

LS - I borrowed your mojo while you were on vacation.

It’s really good stuff and I’m having a hard time giving it up.
Ok - I’ll shoot it back your way.

I’m supposed to be deloading anyway.

Lol…thanks, OP. I could sure use it!
As long as it stayed down south, I think I am okay.

I think I might be on to something with my issue. My addiction with using high percentages of 1RM, on both MP and Bench…all the time.

I need to back off and to a heavy, then light day. Or maybe moderate on both. I think I am just wearing down.

On walkabout…

The lure of 5/3/1 is strong young Jedi…the dark side beckons.

5/3/1 or you become our dinner!

I know what you mean about football. It drives me nuts to see people teaching fundmetally wrong stances or trying to teach 6th graders how to stunt and twist when they are standing straight up at the snap of the ball.

Keep at it Stick, you are killing it in here and you can work through the motivation thing!

EliteFTS article on spondylis…spodylisthen…that back thing.

Good article. When my lower back goes into out, its almost always triggered by hip flexors in spasm–at least they are always present, causation is a tough call. I think that planks and ab-roll outs and those types of exercises help a bunch, I just don’t do enough of them.

LS-walkaboout? Even Crocodile Dundee came into the Pub and had a pint or two…saving your seat for ya!

If you figure out where your git up and go, got up and went, please let me know so I can see if mine is there too?

I miss my Mpress playmate!

Boo!

Where ya’at?

yoo-hoo!

takin’ a long holiday weekend are ya? well you gotta stay on page one…

SEPTEMBER 6, 2010

Georgia - Authorities are seeking help regarding the identity of a man they found walking barefoot through the deep woods in Southern Georgia. The man has apparently been living in a Georgia Wildlife Preserve for several months and was found by Park Service personnel early this morning wearing blue workout shorts, a black tank top and elbow elbow sleeves commonly used by weight lifters.

According to Park Service personnel, the man appears to have been wandering for several weeks and had survived without weapons by running down, killing and eating Georgia Black Bears. When questioned by authorities, the man could only say a few words including “PR’s”, “Squats” “Walkabout” and “looking for my program”.

If you think you know the identity of this individual, please contact the Georgia Park Service immediately. Park officials are concerned for the welfare of the local Bear population.

OP - that was damned good! Read just like a news article. Ceptin’ in South Georgia, there are more gators than bears. You could live off the bear, but a much better selection of reptiles…

Schmidt - as fate would have it, I am pretty sure that 5-3-1 is going to be my plan for bench, for the time being.

Tony - When I read that I thought, “Mmmmm…Yoo-Hoo”. Then I rememebred that it doesn’t taste as good now that I am an adult.

Soldog - thanks for saving me from the archives!

OG - the walkabout has led me through a place where they have access to the interwebz. Still walking, but the circle is getting tighter and tighter around home.

Null - I’m still looking, but today, at least, felt more normal. I’ll keep my eye out for yours as well, though.

Bulldog - I am hre, on a MP day. That poor race to 300 log is going to collect a lot of dust…lol

Steely One - thanks for checking on me.

Walkabout has led me back home, for a bit. I am still kind of unmotivated, distracted and just floating around. I wouldn’t say that I am depressed…just sort of a malaise.

I have changed my workouts a bit. I have increased the number of sets I am doing by about 60 - 70% and increased the reps by about the same…trying not to go under 5 reps, but hanging around 7-10.

My body is rebelling against the increased work load. But that was the point. I really need to get my work capacity up. It does seem to be helping. I, also, need to work some sort of leg work back in. I hope to do that in the next week or two.

I had been on a Monday - chest and tris, Wednesday - back and bis and Friday - shoulders routine. I decided to swap the chest/tris and shoulder days. So that I am fresher on my shoulder workouts.
Chest work is going to be 5-3-1 for a while. Trying to push hard on bench and MP was proving to be too much. To go along with this, i am trying to keep my MP work to no less than 5 reps, with an occasional foray into 3 territory. I respond better to rep work, if not too high.

I did MP last Friday, and again today, to switch my days, as mentioned above. Surprisingly enough, doing MP just 3 days after the last shoulder workout, ended up yielding my 1st forward movement since my vacation.

Went something like this…

MP
barx15x2
95x10
135x5
160x2
185x2
210x2
235x1
250x1
265x1 - PR +5#

Anyway…I hope to be around more. Things at work have settled down a bit (for having no $$, we sure do have a lot of projects going on), as have things at home (school, cheerleading, etc…).

I’ll try to catch up on everyone’s logs.

Phuk that was a fast rep for max!

pardon my Swahili.

Thanks Tony. I was shocked when I looked at the video. It looked A LOT faster and easier than it felt.
