RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT CARRY THE LOADED DEADLIFT BAR BACK INTO THE RACK LIKE THAT. unload the weights and then rack it[/quote]

what is the problem here?

The OP’s following Rippetoe’s advice.

The OP is falling forward in his squats.

HMMMMMMMM…

Yep.

Get your elbows under the bar on squats, I don’t know what Rippetoe says, and I know he has more knowledge on this than me, but even the people who suggest Rippetoes books, like Jim Wendler, advocate having your elbows under the bar when you squat.

It’s technically no longer a Deadlift. A deadlift starts and stops on the ground from a dead position each time.

interesting. ill try the elbows crap on monday. i assumed rippetoe’s form was best for squat so i followed that to the point.

so i tried to lower the elbows on friday, no good. i guess ive been brainwashed completely from hte rippetoe squats.
anything i should read on converting to powerlifting squat? i continued to fall forward like a faggot in my workout

There’s this lovely little book called “persistance”… The basic synopsis is these things can take time and you’ll need to spend some time working on it. You’ve been squatting the Rippetoe way for so long, don’t expect to magically change styles over night.

You may need to back the weight off slightly for a few weeks and work back up again.

haha hanley I understand, but i was wondering if there were any specific articles around that cover this squat so i don’t miss something important in form.
