Force to Break a Hand

There is a difference between weight (force) and mass too don’t forget.

Hi ZEB,

Yes, 100 closes making the handles touch. I know, I know, it sounds unbelievable. But it’s true. Lysak closed the #3 the first time he tried it (without having worked with any of the COC grippers prior to that, although he had just a few days before closed the #2, like it was nothing, also on his first attempt). He has the genetic makeup to have freaky strong hands and forearms (and everything else come to think of it).

I know when he talked to several other gripping greats (a couple of which have closed the #4) none of them had been able to work up to that many closes with the #3. He is also about 1/8 or less away from closing the #4.

Good training,

Sentoguy

I know a kid (can’t qualify with number three grips or whatever) who has forearms as bit as most people’s thighs (no exaggeration). His dad is the most feared bouncer in the area.

This kid, Steve, doesn’t even really work out. He works construction, and eats a lot. I guess it’s genetics.

He could probably break your hand. I know he broke a football (not American) by gripping it with two hands, lightly for him.

I knew a kid who killed a lion with his bare hands, wore his skin as a trophy and then killed the Hydra, his name was Hercules. Nice kid, bit of a meathead, though he was always the strongest in the playground.

Sampson killed a lion with his bare hands too.

I’m not trying to be augmentative, but I find that story very difficult to believe.

Here’s why:

If a man can close the #3 gripper 100 times in a row non stop he would very easily be able to close the #4 gripper. And you just stated:

“He is also about 1/8 or less away from closing the #4.”

If there is some sort of article that you got this story from I’d love to see it.

I know there are some very serious grip masters out there, but I don’t think any man can close a #3 gripper 100 times in a row unless the gripper has somehow been tampered with.

And I hope that you understand that I’m not questioning you as much as I am the story that you have believed.

Hi ZEB,

I actually know Lysak personally, and I have seen him rep the #3 like a toy. And perhaps it’s possible that it’s slightly easier to close than the average #3. Honestly I really can’t tell though because it still feels like a brick to me when I try to close it (and I can close the #2).

It’s also a mystery to Lysak why he can’t close the #4. The same logic that occured to you occured to him. That’s one of the reasons that he worked up to such a ridiculously high number of repetitions. Strangley though, he still has yet to close the #4.

Honestly I think that he could close the #4 if he just trained for it GTG style. But he has run into overuse injuries in the past when he has trained seriously to close the #4. There is a tremendous amount of pressure put on the structures of the lower arm and wrist/hand while training with such a ridiculously difficult gripper.

If Lysak had discovered the the COC grippers when he was 20 (or if they had been invented at that time), he almost certainly would have closed the #4.

Good training,
