Floor Press or Incline for Raw Bench?

OKAY I HAVE A QUESTION:

I want to do floorpress, but I am scared shitless because I train alone and if I get stuck on a weight I’ll bascially just be lying there with no way to escape, Lol.

Would pin presses help me in the same way as a floor press to get through my bench sticking point? And what ROM should I be using for the pin press? Half of my bench? HMM ?

Thanks…

Can you use aerobic steps to spot you on floor press? Like aerobics steps underneath the plates. Not so high that it’ll touch on a normal rep, but high enough to keep the weight from falling on you if you miss the lift? Also, if you have feeder chains, you might be able to rig those up to spot you.

And the way I see it, board press, pin presses, and floor presses are all good. My favorite have been boards because I feel like it mimics the stroke of my regular flat bench press best.

Or, just do floor presses in the power rack with the pins set at the lowest possible position that is still slightly above your chest. This way even if you fail you can dump it on the pins and crawl from underneath…

I tried this today and the bar actually clanks on the pins every rep (ANNOYING)

I have decided to just do them the normal way and not use it as a max effort exercise and hope that I never die, HA.

I am sure if I really got stuck I could just yelp for help.

Is it a good idea to pause every rep? Is that the way it’s meant to be so you can really focus on the tricepy aspect of it??

P.S. I am still a clueless noob

I lol’d.

First time I think this term has been used in this forum! When I do floor press I really focus on pausing at the bottom. For me, it kinda just goes with the theme of no leg drive and pushing all upper body, as opposed to full body on the bench.

No, pin presses would not help you in any way whatsoever. They suck dick, don’t ever do them (I’m serious)

Any particular reason? I like using them to build starting strength off my chest, they are however different than doing a floorpress.

I love floor press as a ME movement. To be honest, I think I’ve incline benched maybe…three times or so my entire life.

So ya totally missed a floor press lift today. I had to like, set it on my stomach and roll it down my body. Then I picked it up from one side to get one leg out, then struggled and tried to get my other leg out. This would have been easier if my thighs were smaller.

Oh well.

I put the same weight on the bar and tried again and did just fine SO SUCK IT FLOOR PRESS. YOU MA BITCH!
