Flo Jo vs. Marion Jones

JESUS I just watched the front view of the Ben Johnson video, and he actually JUMPS out of the blocks.

BTW, Charlie Francis mentioned that Johnson did 2x6 at 600 pounds. I’ve also heard mentioned that Johnson did not have ideal sprinter genetics as far as having long legs, and for example Carl Lewis did have the ideal build. Instead Johnson was just a beast in terms of strength, and so he won that race.

According to CFTS, the ideal build is 5’9 - 5’11. Long legs = better top speed, shorter legs = faster acceleration. BJ was in a happy medium.

No, I was just wondering how she does it because compared to ohter FEMALES she is as big as a man. When you look at her size next to other women it looks like a man has been put in the race by mistake.

I tried to upload a picture but it wouldn’t let me…I will try again.

This picture.

It is almost as if both her parents were on growth hormones when she was conceived.

Look at her largeness.

I wouldn’t take her on unless I was on something.

Marion Jones said she could dunk when she was in college. Pretty impressive considering she’s around 5’10. I know a lot of guys around 6 foot who can’t even touch the ring.

That is impressive.

I personaly think she can do whatever she wants.

I am hardly ever impressed and I am impressed by her.

It isn’t just her physique but what she does with it. She is like a dynamic force.

And no, I don’t care what she is on. She is big enough to sustain it. She is the drug.

Wow. Thanks for that link.

It just shows that if you are going to drug yourself you better be bigger then what you’re taking.[/quote]

Look at the top picture, Alpha. Flo-Jo was definitely not lacking on the quad (and hammy) development either.

I think Flo-Jo ran like she did because of the make-up, jewelery and fancy nails. Not to mention her track pret-a-porter.

Flo Jo was a beast.

She always ran sub 11.00 100m times.

Her 200M time crushed the world record
and her 100M also did.

By the way she ran a 48 second split for the Mile Relay and did not train specifically for the 400M.

As always they can always do better. I have always thought the women had alot more untapped then the men.

Marion Jones can do better too.

That is true! And good observation…I think she is fantastic. Very fit and muscular.

Marion Jones on the other hand is not fantastic, she is a powerhouse - I just see her hugeness and intensity.

Flo-Jo might even have better thigh definition but Marion is like a man…and the thickness on her hips, as well.

Flo-Jo flies whereas Marion powers her way through IMO…

Just an observation, I could be wrong.

I actually thought while watching the video, didn’t all that hair slow her down?

She is a Speed Demon though…!

Maybe she just “pushed the outside of the envelope” too often and that weakened her heart - she runs like she is Ephedrine in action! My heart would “pop” if I released that much energy in one dash!

It would be interesting to see her running next to Marion Jones just for the difference in style - running and fashion!

Don’t you think she is too heavy weight, though, for sprinting? I think Flo-Jo was the perfect size and muscle mass for it.

I saw a picture of Marion Jones next to Maurice Green and he is shorter and not as wide shouldered as her. She looks like a hybrid.

Actually, I was wrong.

The shirt is too big and you can’t really tell her shoulder width.

I can never get sick of watching that 1998 Ben Johnson race…all the Carl Lewis hype at the time and to watch Ben look over and raise his arm for the last 15 M…ahhh Priceless! I was so proud to be a Canadian that night

Lets add some pictures, shall we…

I can’t tell Marion Jones that she would probably run faster if she lost a little weight, and that she can come alot harder than she does since I can’t run a 10.70.

" When you are trying to go fast you are fighting against your body instead of letting go"

Flo-Jo

She is absolutely correct in that perception. That was what I alluded to when I said maybe what killed her was the fact she “pushed the outside of the evelope” too often…I know what she is talking about because this is my greatest fear in trainning: letting go - I thing my heart will burst and my energy will just run away with me, and my head will “pop”.

: p

Check out the white laced tights…Like a merge of the powerful image of a muscle babe and the friday t&a babe.

Picture her joyful nature…

I like her so much because this aspect of fun and joy is really missing from many athletes.

She is delightful and when you love sports so much why not show some joy and make it fun for both yourself and those of us watching.

PS. I loved seeing Maurice Green “atitudional” teasing the opponents just before the race…! Sticking his tongue out…lovely boy!! A powerhouse also! Love to watch him run…

Meet Power and Grace…
