Flax Versus Fish Oil?

I supplement with 3-6 grams of fish oil every day, and an additional two grams of flaxseed oil.

When I’m on the fish oil, my complexion (read: acne) flares up pretty badly, plus the nasty burps (even with enteric coated oil). I’d really like to switch to entirely flaxseed oil, but would like any words of wisdom.

Is there any reason to not switch to solely taking flaxseed oil?

One versus the other? (Mortal Kombat)

Optimum flaxseed oil dosage versus fish oil…?

Cheers!

I would keep taking both, the ALA in the flax does not convert to EPA and DHA very efficiently.
You may split your fish oil into a couple of doses to avoid the burps.

When I run out of Flameout I take both fish and flax. This “protocol” seems to work best. Just ignore the burps.

re:burps

The oils (caps) made by Nordic Naturals are lemon flavored. When and if you burp it is much better than tasting fish.

Okay.

Checking out the lemon flavred ones sounds like a great idea … I will do that once I’m through my present bottle.

Thanks for everyone’s responses  Sounds like I have to stick to the fishies for now

Stick with the fish!!! As said above Flax does not convert that well.

I would normally say stick with the fish - but I’m concerned about the skin flareups. Try another (better) brand and see if it doesn’t change. However if you’re skin still flares, your body’s trying to tell you something. I’m not saying get off the fish, but I’d try to dig a little deeper and figure out what’s going on that’s causing the reaction.

acne flareups from fish oil? Never heard of that one. In fact, quite opposite for me. But everyone is different.

It’s not something TERRIBLE … but like, if I can keep my complexion clear, I try to

I’ll switch brands once I’ve finished the bottle I’m on now, and will see what happens.

I’ve heard that fish oil is good for inflammation and everything, but that it does occasionally result in acne flare-ups for some people.

Is acne not related to an inflammation in the pore? So should the anti-inflammatory properties of fish oil help…in theroy?

Another recommendation to avoid fish burps is the enteric coated fish oil, like the caps from Costco (Kirkland brand).

I take the costco brand at night, 8 of them, is this bad? I don’t get the burps…so is there any other CONS to this product?

I use Flame-Out. The burps aren’t too bad. I like fish, I like fishing, hell id lick a fish if I had to.

Just imagine you are eating fried catfish every time you burp, i do, but im odd.

Fish oil is superior, but I throw some flax in daily as well for the ALA.

Best option for the Acne conditions seems to be masses of B5 which helps process sex hormones, this is why teenagers get it bad. Sex hormones kick in the body can’t process them all, B5 is used by the body to process, Sarsparilla also helps skin. Vit E with the fish oil and lecithin would help heaps, lecithin helps process fats in liver, also stops gitters with coffee, do you know coffee is full of lipids apart from caffeine and lecithin helps the body process them.
