My doctor told me I should stop using flax oil and grind up whole flax seeds and use them instead. He says that the oil is not stable and once the bottle is opened it starts to oxadize. Is he right?
Flax oil should be kept refrigerated once opened. I like to buy mine already cold. But, once opened will go rancid if left out. Your flax oil will be ok, once opened for about a month. Flax seed is a lot less expensive you can get about 300 grams of flax oil in seed form for $6.00. Plus the added benefit of 300 grams of fiber. That would be the only advantage. Oh, and other than the oil being fresher. I use both. But, if you grind the seed, you also need to refrigerate whatever you don’t use once ground.
