Flash's Project: 45'' Vert, 315 Bench, 405 Squat & Stay Healthy

^^^haha, I said slowly.

Last night-

Hangcleans-190x3x3

Squats-235x3x6

Ghr’s-3x8

Supported pistols with off leg on working knee (never felt a stretch like that in back of hip)-2x10 supersetted immediately w/ tke’s-2x20

Good workout. Didn’t get to the gym til about 9 and was draggin’ ass but it turned out alright. I feel like my squats is gonna get back to where it was at my peak fairly quickly. Gonna add 10lbs a week until I can’t, then switch rep ranges.

Ate the same shit yesterday but had turkey pasta in place of the chicken wrap.

Was gonna play ball but my body still hasn’t adapted to my new work schedule and have been in a dog tired daze for about a week and a half so decided to chill. Was gonna take the dog on a walk but she just crop dusted me so I’m seriously reconsidering…

Cheese, crackers, nuts and fruit super early this morn

Breakfast tacos w/egg whites, ground turkey, pico and cheddar

Chicken wrap w/ fruit

Salmon, rice, veggies

Blueberry muffin w/iced coffee

Regular shake

Gonna knock off a steak and salad when I get back from the dogs walk.

Upper manana after work. Need to buy a cheap scale do I can track progress. 8 week goal is +5 lbs.

thats what I had for dinner. great minds think alike!

^^^BOOM. Here’s about the last half. This shit’s delicious!

Well, tonight was a complete cluster fuck. After warmups I was going to do military and dome other shit I had planned, but everything was busy so I winged it

Incline-185x6,5,5

Weighted chins+45-8,7,6,6 + db bench (SUPER deep stretch)-80’sx10,10,8

Tried one set of military w/95 for 10 but my shoulder started buggin’ so called it.

Did some arms and bounced.

I need to stay on top of bringing my clothes w/ me to work 'cause my workouts are definitely more productive when I go straight from work instead of going home and bullshitting and heading back later.

Font think I mentioned, but the Vegas trip I was supposed to take got canned 'cause I couldn’t get off work. I should’ve just got back Tuesday. That sucks, but Portland chick surprised me and is coming in on sat and staying til Wednesday, do that’s pretty cool. Legs manana, ya’ll be good.

Well, was gonna do lower but played ball for a bit and tweaked my back. Despite that, I actually put down a few dunks. Even so, my timing and approach were all over the place, but that’s probably due to the stiff back. It doesn’t feel too hot right now, but t’is what it is. Gotta work a long day starting at 7 am then pick ol girl up from the airport about 7 pm. Hopefully some sleep and pre-bed stretching loosens this thing up.

Haha, I’ll get some new ones up VG. Also, the gym I go to is the one I used to go to several years ago and here recently some of the regulars have been telling me I’m getting my size back, and the first thing Portland girl said after getting off the plane is “you’re bigger”. So, something’s going right. Probably not gonna lift while she’s here (leaves Wednesday morning) but that’s probably a good thing as I need to rest my back. Ya’ll be easy.

My back is pretty jacked up. Ol girl leaves on Wednesday, but if I’m still hurting I might chill til Thursday. This is super lame, but even stepping wrong wrenched it so I need to be smart and let it heal.

Maurice Taylor (ex NBA player) literally just walked out of my work. Real cool cat. Asked who the best player he’s ever played against is and his exact words were “Kobe, hands down.” That’s the 4th NBA player I’ve asked that question to and they’ve all responded the same. LBJ my ass.

MJ baby!

You are really trying to get me to spam your log, aren’t you

Bug and VG: TRUTH HURTS!!!

Well, got up at 4:15 to drop ol girl off at the airport by 5:15 and make it to work by 6. I’m pretty beat from the lack of sleep over the last few days, but my back is feeling better. Get off about 2 and gonna gauge how I feel before committing to the gym. I’m chomping at the bit to lift but my wagon’s straight draggin’.

I’ll holler.

GAH I couldn’t help myself. I looked up your boy Taylor, he left the league in 2006-2007, in that year I wouldn’t argue LBJ was better. He really took off and started making it a debate in 2007-2008.

I really hate myself for not being able to resist the urge to argue this. I’m now going to crawl under my desk and eat comfort food (cheez-its) for the rest of hte day.

Haha, no worries man. But, I’ve talked with guys who are still in the league and they all say Kobe too. And, all these dudes still get together and play pick-up in the off-season. Speaking of, he said he works out at a lifetime (think it’s a national gym chain) and he said it’s ALL pros. He named a few guys who were gonna be there, but the two I remember were TJ Ford and Tracy McGrady. Didn’t ask, but I assume they have the court reserved.

I think because of 2 reasons they say that… and I have rebuttals to each

  1. He can take over for stretches better than anyone (but, he can’t play at his highest level 40 mins/game, 82games a season anymore)

  2. He is the best bad shot maker in the NBA (IMO a star’s job is to create easy shots, not make bad ones)

One other point is Kobe isn’t as quick on D as he used to be. He has to pick his spots there too… I don’t believe for a nanosecond he could have locked up Derrick Rose in the ECF like LBJ did.

However, I hesitate to argue for LBJ anymore after last year’s finals. I always argued his lack of rings didn’t matter because he had complete garbage teams in CLE (look what happened to them when he left and they lost no one else). Not even you can say that any of LBJ’s teams were CLOSE to as talented as any of Kobe’s ring-winning teams (Shaq, Gasol were great 2nd players).

But last year, not only did MIA have the talent to win, he put up the most indefensible no-show of all time for a superstar in the finals. The fact is sometimes he’s clutch and sometimes he is just bizarrely disengaged and, well, downright bad, in the clutch. And there is no way to predict on any night whether good LBJ or bad LBJ will show up to the big game.

I dunno who I have ranked #1 anymore.

But it’s not Kobe!

Dude, you and I could argue back and forth for days, but the bottom line is people who’ve played against both say Kobe. EVERY TIME. They’re not discussing teams, or refs, or anything else but individual ability and they all say Kobe. If EVERYONE says it, it’s probably true. And, LBJ sagging off Rose and forcing him to show his overrated (read:garbage) jumper is not exactly shutting him down.

First time lifting in a week. Visiting ol girl in Portland in 2 weeks and already let her know I’m gonna be lifting while I’m there. Hard to establish a groove when it keeps getting chunked up. Anyway-

Usual warmup

Bench-215x3x6

Cable rows-140x4x10 + inc db’s-80’sx5,75’sx8,8

Band pulls-3x12 + db military-50’sx8,8

Arms + scap circuit

Pretty good workout. Gonna do this again on Monday and get back in my normal groove. Also, strength was there to get at least 8 w/ the 80’s, but my left shoulder gave out at 5. Gonna start throwing on scap work to get it healed up quicker. The pain is pretty much gone but it’s still not as stable as it should be. Legs manana. Ya’ll be good.

Hangcleans- 185x5x3 (super explosive. Trying out new, wider grip to take stress off wrists and elbows and the bar was just flying up. I’ll be back up past 2 plates in no time).

Squats-240x6,4 felt something strain in my left quad on rep 4. Nothing too serious I think, but figured o wouldn’t press my luck and save it for Tuesday.

Ghr’s-3x8 + standing calves-3x6

Supported pistols-2x10 + tke’s-2x20

Abs.

Pretty good workout. Hadn’t jumped since I tweaked my back, so I jumped and touched a 10’6" ledge between literally every set I did tonight. After my second set of squats went to the court and shot some jumpers and tried some dunks. Didn’t land any, but for having a ton of blood on my legs I was jumping pretty damn well. Gotta be at work at 7 am tomorrow, but if my legs aren’t wrecked I’ma try and play some ball and catch some dunks. Depending on what happens, I might get a new vid up. Ya’ll be good.
