Well, I mean, really, if we’re talking an average adult engaging in no resistance training, how much protein do they NEED? It may not be much more than that. You could probably get all your essential amino that way.
But it’s for that reason a product can claim “high protein” by having 5 grams of it. It’s once you start adding things like regular exercise into the equation that needs start shifting.
Also, I must confess that yesterday I committed the ultimate bro sin: I forgot to drink my protein drink after my workout! I was too preoccupied with getting the lawn mowed in time to be able to visit the Mrs for lunch that it just slipped my mind. Imagine all those gains I lost!
I tried it once… not impressed in the slightest. They replicate the taste decently but it lacked depth of flavour and it felt like I was eating beef flavoured air
I used to do MMA (20 years back) and I used to hate fighting smaller guys. To fast and too slippery on the floor. Try and pin a guy that can slip through your guard as you CAN’T keep your legs that tight on them…
I have definitely been there.Generally, little guy punches don’t take as much out of you either, but they can get in, bonk your ribs, and get back out of range quickly. It’s not so much a game of one hit KOs for them, but cumulative fatigue damage that gets the job done.
One guy I used to roll with that was challenging was a guy who had one his legs amputated near the hip (cancer sucks). You were instantly at a disadvantage on your back because the best guard you could be in was half guard…
i used to train with a guy that was 5 ft 4. Honestly the worst thing was chocks. He wold chock me and it was tight from the VERY start. Me - I pulled an arm/leg triangle and I’m giving it the full beans and I still can not get it on. His neck was like 3 inches around (I joke of course). I couldn’t get it tight enough.
Being heavier is an advantage - but a good lighter guy can defiantly use size to their advantage.
I confess that the only way I cook burgers is Deliveroo, so I’m no expert. If I’m using the Weber, then I’m preparing proper meat, which to my mind means steaks or ribs.
I’ll make an exception for seafood, especially prawns, on occasion.
I’m 58. At my physical last December my triglycerides levels was above 100 for the first time in my life. I’ve been on blood pressure meds for the last 5 years. In January I adopted a (non-militant) plant dominant approach. I still take fish oil caps, use whey protein, and eat greek yogurt regularly, however I have only had animal flesh 8 times so far this year. I don’t have any budget restriction for my shopping and although they make up only a small fraction of my diet, I have tried most of the so called meat alternatives. The ‘Field Roast’ & ‘Tofurky’ brand sausages along with the ‘Beyond Meat’ burgers mentioned are all decent IMO. I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in my blood pressure without any negative impact on my training. Two months ago I added two 36hr. fasts per week and have adapted without any issues. My next physical is this December and I’m hoping I’ll be able to reduce the BP meds and see an improvement in the triglycerides levels.
Don’t forget to challenge the REAL scientist to a fist fight when they question you.
Reminds me of this quote from Schopenhauer when he talked about dueling to defend honor
“It is obvious that people of this worthless description have good cause to be thankful to the principle of honor, because it puts them on a level with people who in every other respect stand far above them.”
I confess I took 2 fucking days to assemble a simple DIY cat tree. Told my wife never to buy any DIY shit again or just compile a list and buy every fucking thing she wants at one go and I’ll hire a guy to come assemble all of them.
I think I’m just pissed at myself because I suck so hard at this shit. I don’t know why. In hindsight, it was idiot proof. My mind just shuts down while I’m doing it. Seriously admire people who can do this well.
