I don’t understand. You did what they like and they didn’t like it?
That’s too vegan for me, man. Like dudes that are so punk that they don’t like music anymore.

I suspect that was the first time they actually had beyond meat.
Fake meat is like the new crypto, which is like the new anal.
People love talking about it then you’re like “Hey look! I have a whole bunch for you!”
Then crickets. ![]()

I looked at these after reading this. The 100watt commercial one is not within my budget but the 36 watt will be here Monday.
I think it’ll be around the same intensity as the one my wife bought. She got it for $60 from China.
Me & my own posts

The 100 watt were well over $200 here. Thanks for posting. My son has mold allergies so I hope this helps.
No problem. I think you probably get better quality stuff. From what I understand, the quality with regards to how much UV-C is being produced in a certain range, which denotes their efficacy, varies a lot. Mine produces a shit load of ozone so quite a large percentage of it is probably in a lower, less effective range but I tested it with a card and at least it’s all UV-C, not UV. The real expensive shit in the 240-254nm range shouldn’t even produce ozone without the manufacturer having to tamper with the glass to prevent the lower range stuff from being emitted.
Then there’s still the question of intensity and that can vary a lot too. I’m not under any delusion that I’m getting high quality stuff from cheap China distributors lol.
I might need to rethink my stance on this plant based meat…
More on the boxing thing:
A guy I train with is 150kg. That’s 2 fighters AND a ref. The guy could actually become a whole boxing match.
I put Beyond Meat burgers on the braai (what you heathen Americans might refer to as a bbq) when I had a vegan guest and I was amazed by their quality and taste. Better than the usual burger patties you can get in the UK, which is admittedly a low bar.
@SkyzykS I hope this doesn’t mean I have to get into crypto and anal now. What are the rules?
Boxers are very weird from a size perspective. I don’t think of myself as especially big (5’11", 200lbs) but I’d be classed as a heavyweight and therefore expected to thrash someone like Marvin Hagler who fought at 160lbs.
Would you be scared of a 5’9", 160lbs guy who challenged you to a street fight? Hell no. But would Hagler / Hearns / Leonard / Duran kick your ass…
The problem with small dudes is that they are too fast. It’s hard to keep them in range.
Some of the big guys I use to train with had arms like baseball bats and it only took one or two hits to start hating my decision to spar them. The little guys were more like the annoying bug buzzing your ear constantly.
I never got around to trying it, but I am still intrigued by the sport of chess boxing. Checkmate or KO to win.
Just thinking about how smashed up boxer’s faces look… Can’t imagine what gladiators used to end up looking like.
This really isn’t some magic trick. “You mean if I shoehorn in a bunch of fat and sugar into a plant it will taste yummy?”
They do the same thing with “granola bars”, where granola is FAR from the first ingredient, but “sugar bars” tested poorly
I take no issue with people wanting to eat it as an environmental statement, but I feel a lot of people are getting hoodwinked into thinking it is healthy.
I picked up the tip a few months ago to hold dumbbells right on the end of the handle when doing curls so the dumbbells.want to fall inwards forcing your biceps to work against it…
This is one of the best examples of a majoring in the minors idea I have come across but I confess this was such a surprisingly good tip that I now do it with all db movements that make sense - db bench press, raises, flyes, etc haha
I was mainly impressed with how accurately they replicated the umami taste of real meat. The nutritional macros aren’t up to much, I think beef is actually the healthier of the two.
I was once told by a vegan biologist that grown adults only need 30g of protein a day. You don’t need great macros if that’s what you believe.
I had to read this 3 times to make sure it wasn’t a typo.
Veganism might be affecting that person’s brain.
