Confession:

I need to start standing up for myself more, I have started doing that more, but I’m always hesitant.
That really shouldn’t be something I have to think about.

I am a non confrontational guy, but I feel as though that isn’t going to get me anywhere in the future. Agreeing to an unpaid internship given my background and experience was not a good idea, but I am now currently demanding compensation. I also haven’t showed up this whole week, if the chairperson of my major at my university hadn’t told me I was being taken advantage of, then I probably would’ve never voice my opinion. Funny thing is, he got me connected with this company.

Sheesh, so much habits and tendencies I have to work on to turn myself into the best version of my self, all good though. Anyone else ever had similar experiences?

I’m not very assertive and have a hard time putting my own needs first, personally and professionally. It has led to some bad situations wherein I had to go somewhere else.

I know I’m going to do the right thing and that I’m a good employee. I leave it up to the employer to do their part in what ever way they see fit. If we disagree, I leave.

Its their loss. I was talking candidly with one companies owners son, the shop manager. He asked “Are you really going somewhere else?” I said yep. He asked why, so I laid out the numbers by saying “We’ve produced x million dollars of product each year for the last couple of years. I’ve recieved X for my part in that. But my costs have changed and we need to adjust for that. If we do, we can keep on doing what we’ve done- making lots of money. If not, I’ll just go make it for someone else.”.

Now the ball was in their court. They made their choice and I went somewhere else.

Edit: I also make sure to have somewhere to go. You have to bargain from a position of strength.

For a second I was reading that as manitee.

“Sorry, I’m saving manitees” is a pretty solid excuse.

Cool find! That’s like near mint condition. I’m glad there are still used book stores around. It’s still a nice thrill to dig up something good.

I have a real ego-meathead confession today.

I was changing my shirt in front of a mirror and noticed like new separations being visible on my shoulders when I casually moved my arm. So I posed a bit before putting on the new shirt.

It took me 5 hours to eat 1 lb of ground turkey chili.

This is one of the reasons why I quit that goofy no carb rule once I started bumping the calories up

Sourdough grilled cheese sandwiches baby!!!
