If your belt still fits it’s OK. A thick trunk makes a strong tree!
3:00-4:00 pm had a high enough rate of mistakes and injury at one place I worked that I started breaking out a snack plate of pineapple & other sugary stuff to get people back on their toes for the last hour.
@skyzyks @treco nice! Thanks thanks!
@TriednTrue got it!
This is nice to hear! Thanks for the heads up on REI sales too!
@EmilyQ Glad I mentioned where I am. Thanks for the reassurance! What about sleet though? Is it a huge problem here?
@brickhead thanks! hopefully it will be enough!
Yes, it sleets sometimes, and I guess what I would say regarding the degree of problem it is is that it’s like working out. Does it suck? Depends how you view it. It’s just something you put your head down and tolerate. Hopefully you’ll find yourself someone who feels a nice sense of hardiness. I came to Northern New England from Central Texas, and still have friends there. I enjoy shocking them with my weather. I slept in a tent Friday night with temps in the low 20’s. Even many of my local friends are willing to gasp over it in a way that feeds my soul. It’s a lot like announcing that I ran 6 miles before work or whatever. Even without an audience, it pleases ME that I slept in a tent in November or ran 6 miles before work. You’ll have the option of a taxi, I would imagine, but I know that many New Yorkers pride themselves on not using them. Because they’re expensive, but also because there’s a pride factor.
Knowing you to the extent I do, I suspect you’ll be walking along to work thinking “Look at me! Totally walking to work on a 15 degree morning! And not even minding that much!” I very clearly remember my first well below zero morning (I think it was -12, which you won’t get). It was just really odd that I was having a normal day and it was 12 below. And pleasing somehow.
I was supposed to do 5x5 at 95kg for back off sets. I did 2x2 at 95 and realized it wasn’t going to happen so I dropped to 90… I feel very disappointed in myself
Health related so somewhat training related:
I’m working nights at the moment and my body clock has FINALLY accepted this. I’m sleeping until 05.00 until 12.00 most days. But I wake up naturally. No alarms no screaming kids no nothing. Just a nice lazy slow “morning”.
Confession:
This is why I took a nights job again. Man I hate the alarm in the morning. Also - I think with the WFH thing taking off. Along with more flexible hours more people should try a later start to the day. There is nothing as nice as making up naturally and knowing that you are fully refreshed.
Ha - it happens. I once miss loaded a bar by 20kg. I thought I was loading up 10kg plates. There were 15kg. I did this with 2 each side.
I tried to squat and FAILED so badly. I was in a right state. Really annoyed until I saw the mistake. I then took the weight off put the right weight on the bar and tried again and failed again. HAHA
Isn’t your squat like 100?
If the program says 5 x 5 with 90% you should be disappointed with your program.
I was deadlifting
Oh, deadlifting. Yeah, that’s definitely a few Demerits then.
I am bloated right now and I have to do 10 x 10 squats with 2 min rest in between each set. Once it’s done it’s done but this is gonna suck.
Bloat is nice for squatting, bounce the belly off the thighs. At least that’s my way of doing it. haha
Disagree- bloat makes it hard for me to brace
You’ve mentioned pineapple before, and the reason behind it, but I wasn’t listening. Can someone who was paying attention let me copy their notes?
Confession: Yesterday was the first day since Halloween that I haven’t had any leftover candy. No peanut M&M packets, no frozen fun-size Snickers, not even a mini-Milky Way that’re so small they shouldn’t really count.
It’s because you ate it all, isn’t it?
Don’t worry, it’s flame-free. You can tell us.
Probably better suited for the Fatherhood thread, but this reminds me of the time one of the kiddos got his first girlfriend. For the first time ever, he added pineapple juice on the grocery list. I didn’t say anything, just thought to myself “Doesn’t work, kiddo, but okay.”
I’m definitely missing a connection here.
