They also make water proof ones. I’ve got a pair (high tops) and like them.
Rain on snow/ice is the slickest time of all. And if it’s raining, it’s not cold enough for my feet to get cold (I do run warm).
Never tried em because the sole looked a lot thicker and tread pattern is different. Same as the normal slipon, just hitop I’m there!
I found the sole to be softer and grippier. I used them for mountain biking and BMX. Not sure about the sole thickness. I wear vans everyday and rotate through 2-3 pairs but I haven’t worn those specific high tops in over a year.
and maybe learn to take a fall.
I wrenched neck and low back a few times trying to keep from falling.
When I actually fell, only my pride was hurt.
I had chipotle or the first time today (sorority event so they had it catered)
It was pretty bad, but that still didn’t stop me from gorging on the meat and eating 400kcal over allotment… I really am whore for meat…
I was so hungry
Chipotle is so nasty.
Haters arrive in 3…2….
Flame free…… must not engage…. Flame free……

@dt79 - Eminem still has some relevance. Definitely not the most popular among teenagers like he was 20 years ago but he still puts out some great stuff.
@whang - One brand that I don’t think I saw mentioned was Carhartt. Only place I’ve got my winter coats from for a decade. I think they’re great, and they’ve been through some of the worst winter has to offer. That’s pretty much what all the blue collar workers I know wear, and I don’t think they’re nearly as expensive as what some other brands being listed cost. They’re mainly marketed as work clothes, not winter sports or anything, but some of the newer stuff is pretty lightweight and flexible but still warm and water proof. I’d definitely check them out. What area you living in? Northeast?
I like the idea of it, but I’m one of X number of people that cilantro tastes horrible for.
It took me about a year of eating it to find this out though.
Yes, dude.
Chipotle is straight up shitty food. Doesn’t taste good, and their queso sauce is an abomination.
If I had to go Mexican chain, I’m going Moe’s 10/10 times.
This is way harder not to flame than speaking negatively about the most overhyped food chain in human history.
You guys have any opinion on El Pollo Loco?
They’re legit, aren’t they? I’ve eaten there once, years ago, when I was in Texas, and I remember it being delicious, but it could just be nostalgia.
Haven’t tried, but I always get their ads in the mail, and the chicken looks good. Was wondering if I should give it a go.
Go for it. The worst thing that can happen is you’ll have the equivalent of really good Chipotle.
That’s the stuff from Breaking Bad, right?
True.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions!
About the wool hat, thanks for the advice. I’m in Brooklyn, so do you think I’ll need it? I do walk to work for a mile in the early morning though, like 5.30 to 6.00 AM, peak of coldness I think. The problem is once I get to work, heating is centralized, so I generally just wear an undershirt and scrubs. As someone who’s lived in the tropics most of my life, I really hate layering clothes. I try to get away with the least I can put on. Ideally just one jacket so that once I get to the building, I just take it off and go about my work.
Thanks for mentioning socks too. I thought my only problems were the jacket and the snow boots.
Lol. Actually, if it’s a little pricey but lasts, I’m okay with it because for sure I’ll be wearing it until it is unusable. I’m not the type to buy things every so often, specially clothes. If it works, it works. I don’t want to spend time thinking about what to buy again lol.
Well of course. We only laugh at our friends when this happens. That’s how you know they’re true friends.
@treco what are duck shoes?
Really?? I’ve been wearing Vans classic slip ons ever since high school I think. They are grippy for sure! Will they be enough for snow?
That was Los Pollos Hermanos - The Chicken Brothers. This is The Crazy Chicken.
Definitely. Probably the most important part.
I’m in south western PA, and for all but the coldest 2 weeks could get away with a thermal + t-shirt and hoodie as long as I have a good cap.
Of course, that’s for casual outdoor stuff. Work or long term exposure is a whole different ballgame.
