Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 2)

As strong as you are, this is almost 100% certainly because you’re just not strong enough in that movement to control the eccentric. Maybe start with bent legs, and progressively extend them as the movement gets easier? Or bent-knees on the concentric, then extend your legs and fight on the eccentric?

Why not use one of those kings chair things. Where you rest your forearms and elbows on the pads?

I confess I didnt invent these:

Standing on the floor and raising 1 leg at a time works well too. No swinging and you get to practice driving the other leg into the ground for some of that single leg, pelvis torquing action.

I do band leg curls like this, only on a higher bench so my legs can swing under.

Yeah I did assume this. Which is why I think I should include them.
Weak = wrong = needs fixing

Oh - yes. had not thought about this. To be fair I’ve given it 1 go. Looked like a fat man having a fit and then gave up.

I was hanging onto a pull up bar at the time - but it was not too far from this.

Down 29lbs since moving back in June, and working hard on my diet. Overall things are going good, but for like 3 week straight I have had an absolutely unrelenting craving for Taco Bell.

I confess that I worked in ground beef tacos in my meal preps for this week in an effort to recreate some of that Taco Bell goodness I have been missing so much

Get you some of the Taco Bell meat seasonings and sauces!

Hold the god damn phone, Taco Bell makes meat seasonings? This is a game changer

I have one of their longboards. Pretty good IMO. I’ve had a couple pretty good wipeouts (one really big one on the hills of Portland).

One tip is to loosen the trucks over time (start with them pretty stiff). You won’t be able to turn as sharply with them tightened and stiff, but you will be more stable.

Thanks and that makes a lot of sense. I have read it may be good to get a harder truck bushing since I am larger too.

I was fine with the original ones at about 220 lbs. You’re bigger, maybe try it the originals first.

I confess I got to feel big and strong and smug today at work.

We had to use a hauling truck today which required removing the back two gates made of 1/4” thick steel weighing every bit of 100lbs each. Normally we use a forklift or two people but I ain’t got time for that nonsense. I cleaned them from the ground and then OHP’d them into place a couple times today. A newish guy at work who had been asking me which gyms around here were the best then attempted to put one on… he cleaned it and about died trying to press it :joy: dude was big too! Bigger than me.

He called me strong AF and it made me giddy like a school girl on the inside.

That is all.

wait, I can clean 100lbs

One time at a park a little kid came up to me and said “is it alright if I tell you something”, I said sure, and he told me “you look as strong as Thor”. I’ll cherish that moment forever, because kids are brutal honest. I mean he was wrong, but still.

On a barbell. Odd-object lifts are way harder.

I have a 150lbs keg that’s well below my ability on a barbell, but on the keg that weight feels much heavier.

Not that you shouldn’t have all of them, but besides the helmet, wrist pads are the #1 thing you probably wanna have. Skinned knees and elbows I can deal with - falling on your palm and permanently wrecking my wrist is a no-no. Nearly screwed something up very badly my first week back to skateboarding and promptly spent the next couple days running full speed and hurling myself at the ground to re-learn how to roll instead of letting anything absorb impact.

Nobody knows how to fall like skaters, and it’s a friggin’ art form.

Especially when Na-Kel Smith does it!

I don’t plan on attempting this, but check out starting about 26:15

I actually saw this a while back, I’m assuming you’re talking about when Big Boy absolutely eats it during his first drop in, haha. Lot of weight to be doing that. The guy’s very impressive though, kickflipping and attempting a drop in at his size.

He’s also way less cringey than Eddie Hall.
