I had a bypass patient come back in with an open chest. Apparently he took “return to normal activity” as that he could go back to splitting wood at his off-grid home.
Split a little more than wood, didn’t he?
I’ll be honest it’s caused me not to give a damn about having a bar in my hand.
Yup! Seems like a no BS kind of guy. Thanks for the feedback @T3hPwnisher, @aldebaran
Come on netflix. Release Lucifer Season 5! What the fuck are you waiting for?
Ok so this might be a dumb question…
Is The Daily Show with Trevor Noah a good way to stay updated with current events? I know it’s satire, but I was thinking hey, at least it’s not biased. Is it?
I can’t think of a way to answer that within the context of a flame free thread. Even as a bleading heart leftie. And even worse, a European.
I believe you should apply filters to every news source to decide how much you can believe them and what parts of the story they are omitting.
Haha! Anyway, I asked because I saw a post on Facebook and thought of following the page so that I’d see some news every now and then while scrolling facebook. I realized I could follow the FB page of BBC and NYtimes on Facebook instead. I’m getting a little too old for this technology and social media thing. Lol
Nothing is going to be unbiased. At least, nothing that is dependent on ratings.
It’s still A way to be current. Multiple sources would be better. As long as you never take anything as the 100% truth, you put yourself in a good spot.
I like bbc for US news, npr for European news and aljazeera for Asian news.
I’m not sure. As a Brit the BBC is DEEPLY flawed. They are bias by omission of stories.
Example:
The BBC are primarily anti Brexit. So there have been 100’s maybe 1,000’s of stories about how Brexit will mean bad things for primarily the economy and wages.
After Brexit - due to the lack of unskilled labour - the average wage of the UK rose faster than inflation for the first time in years. No/very little coverage.
If something is inconvenient to the BBC they just give it 500 words and its done. No negative spin, no trying to rubbish the event. Just apathetic reporting.
I’m no Trump fan - but I honestly feel if he were to cure cancer tomorrow - the BBC would allocate 500-750 words to it.
That’s why I ignore their European coverage
That’s why I respect them
Are they anti-Brexit? Or do they just appear that way compared to the rabidly pro-Brexit newspapers?
Just to clarify: Brexit has happened in name only so far so it’s way, way too early to know what effects it will have. And we’ll probably never know either now that any effects can conveniently blamed/credited to Coronavirus.
It’s become the universal statistic to make oneself look better.
All good things are my doing and all bad things aren’t my fault. ![]()
I think that’s @anna_5588 's angle. The US news outlets all suck. BBC is more reliable for US news. NPR is probably more reliable for European news. Because they aren’t invested or partisan. The US media just sucks no matter what they try to cover.
I believe so. For the reasons I out line. Bias through nil reporting.
For the sake of correctness I’ll clarify. After the Brexit vote.
I agree.
US media has an annoying tendency to overdramatize everything
I think it’s biased and I don’t always agree with it but I find him/the show funny so I watch it. It’s a more enjoyable way to keep up with the news. Would recommend.
Good point. Thanks pwn!
@anna_5588 I usually tend to use NYTimes for US news and BBC for global news. I tend to stick to science and health related articles though. Just peek at political stuff from time to time, or at least just read up on the major ones
@carlbm, @hardartery, @dagill2 thanks for the input guys. Time to be a less uninformed and less uncultured swine
