Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

Right? Also, MatLab. Super powerful and cool software, but you don’t really need it unless you’re on the cutting edge. My redneck-ass engineering can be completely sufficed with 3D modeling software and good ol’ Excel.

Yep, these are my most used software product. I have been putting off updating SolidWorks for a while now. It just doesn’t change much year to year, but I feel it is part of my job to upgrade it. Still on 2019 version.

I also use CRM software a lot. The finance people get mad because I am a total cowboy when setting stuff up.

I’ve used CATIA and Inventor. CATIA is a pain in the ass to use but can do some really cool stuff if you’re good at it. Inventor is as quick and dirty as they come, which is exactly what I need. I keep toying with doing some freelance work and getting a 3D printer but can never pull the trigger.

CATIA is the high end SolidWorks (same company), right? I think a lot of aerospace companies use it?

I think SolidWorks is the best one I have used. AutoCAD sucks balls.

Apparently I am on the cutting edge. I use MatLab frequently, along with a couple of other advanced tools like AmeSim by Siemens.

Occasionally some derivatives of trig functions show up in fluid and orbital dynamics, but not typically in that convoluted of a way.

I just have a pricey education

MIT?

I would guess Iowa state (the cyclones).

I confess I had a Peloton delivered today.

Yes, I’m going to drop one lifting session a week and do a spin class instead. Is my bro card revoked?

@Edgy
@mnben87 got it - Iowa State Cyclones (as an out of state student). Would have loved MIT, but that was too pricey.

Also did my graduate study at Washington University in St. Louis (thankfully paid for by my company).

aren’t you literally a rocket scientist or something (Aerospace engineer right?) :joy:

I confess that I’m having one of those “I wish I listened to my parents” moments.
My parents always pushed me to do more maths in ES and MS, but it never stuck. I’m really regretting not sticking with it because I’m now getting increasingly interested in branches of econ that require a LOT more maths than I’m prepared to do.
Maybe had I done more, I might be more “math inclined”

It’s also becoming increasingly apparent that a lot of the things I’m actually relatively good at are becoming increasingly irrelevant

Yeah, technically I can do rocket science (not my current job).
The funny thing is, rocket science is not the toughest engineering, but “It’s not electrical engineering” just doesn’t sound as good.

Oh my god thank you for actually doing a confession in the goddamn confession topic.

Bro card gets revoked if you are dropping arm day for peleton. Bro Card gets upgraded if you are dropping leg day because “Peleton works the legs”

Don’t forget to put this on your next resume, verbatim.

I did SO much of that when I was recovering from my shoulder surgery.

…It’s really stupid.

I confess since starting my diet I’ve eaten more cake for breakfast than not. It’s such good cake though.

I further confess that I’m unreasonably terrified that spinning is going to result in skinny legs, because it will mean I’m too tired for a proper session on leg day.

Cardio is going to eat my gainz bro!

Pretty sure you got a lifetime stamp with those tomahawks up thread.

Bro status becomes unassailable after something like that.

Mind you, I’m entirely out of the loop on current standards.

Confession,
I am terrible at confessions.
Also, this week I have consumed donuts and pasta on the same day but I was feeling pretty good because despite lack of weightlifting (my gym keeps getting closed for “deep cleaning”, therefore I have been avoid the contagion) my weight has not fluctuated since December.

Also, how do I convince the rest of my family to eat pork and grass fed beef? I am getting really sick of nothing but chicken and shrimp.
