Chinese New Year preparations:

The period when women are exceptionally busy doing lots of shit in the home and men are sitting on their asses watching them and wondering why they’re doing all this shit.

My dad and uncle are mommy’s boys, so when they go to my grandparents (their parents) for CNY, it’s a comical scene of two grown ass men in pink aprons cooking and scrubbing the kitchen :joy:

But in Shanghai, yep, my aunt’s (Mom’s sister) NEAT goes up 2000% while my uncle loafs around trying not to get yelled at.

My mom can’t cook, so for the dinner at our apartment, I buy the groceries, plan the menu and help my dad in the kitchen

My wife started vacuuming at 11pm last night because she said the cleaner we hired didn’t do a good enough job. I really can’t tell the difference.

Context for people who don’t know the CNY tradition:

People believe you can’t sweep the floor from Chinese New Year’s day until I can’t remember how many days later, probably about a week, or you’ll be “sweeping away all your luck”. So they get anal about cleaning the house prior to that.

That is a massive understatement- at least based on what usually happens at my house…
THis year, we aren’t in CHina, but for previous years, my mom literally spent an hour vacuming a 200 sq m apartment, then another at least 3 hours scrubbing every room- it’s literally the most activity she gets in a year :joy:

Same here. I’m considered a “hindrance” when my wife is doing this kind of stuff. It’ll start off with me offering to clean something. She’ll come and look at what I’ve done and declare that it’s not good enough so she might as well do it on her own.

Stop treating your abs differently than other things! Progressive overload brah. Weighted sit ups, hanging leg raises, ab wheels, etc. The “just lose bodyfat and you’ll get abs” mantra works great for chubby people, but it ain’t for us skinny folk.

My wife does it now as do my kids.

Video and docs? I meant I actually fell asleep while standing during guard duty during the night shift. It wasn’t intentional.

And of course I didn’t remain standing for long once I was asleep. But I woke up before my body almost hit the ground. It was quite common actually.

One other thing I developed was sleep paralysis. Simply put, the body is fucking tired but the mind is too alert so you wake up while your body is still paralyzed since it thinks you’re still sleeping(which is why you don’t end up sleepwalking).

It was kinda a joke since flats said I was (reluctantly) turning into gym bro because of all the covid changes. But since I still can’t go to the gym, I guess I might as well! :sweat_smile: thanks for the tips!

You should get an ab wheel. They are amazing at torturing yourself if you really push them.

Tried them before, didn’t like the way my mid-low back felt. That was from the knees too. Hopefully my back is a little stronger now though
