Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

Saw a bag of cotton candy at the grocery store that featured a very prominent FAT FREE! sticker on the label.

It was delicious.

Huh, funny - I was doing this just yesterday with tubs of high protein yoghurt and normal yoghurt, lol. I ended up picking up a small tub of unflavoured high protein yoghurt to try. Might go and compare the different flavours next time.

Interesting, I never realised that. Makes sense though.

I LOVE when companies do that. It’s so funny. “Fat free oranges!” “Low sugar ground beef on sale!” “Try our sugary cereal FREE of cholesterol”

Flavor it yourself with protein powder. Better macros and less junk. Peanut flour is great too.

The thought of “high sugar ground beef” just popped into my head and I really don’t like that thought.

I will definitely try this, thanks!

I saw a little tub of “salad toppers” (read lentil sprouts) the other day that proudly advertised itself as “high protein”. All 2.6g of it.

For us in the states, the recommended daily intake of nutrients was determined by the government, and they set protein at 50g, which means almost ANYTHING can advertise itself as a good source of protein. When 5g is 10% of your daily intake, a snickers bar is just about there.

Not to mention all that gluten free meat I have been seeing around.

If only I had known the meat I ate so far was so full of gluten…

Google translate was my friend there.

God I hate it when they do that, lol

We also have Snickers Protein bars available, which do indeed advertise themselves as “high protein”.

In this case, I think it was a function of their weight. Don’t need a lot of protein in a 60g pot to have a high % protein.

The number of times I have bought an exotic and way too expensive ingredient with zero plans or ideas on how I will ever use it for anything except the one recipe I found is one of the leading allegations used in my ban.

Luckily, with saffron, you get so little for your money, there are no leftovers.

I find speaking one language difficult enough, I don’t want to get involved in any more.

marinated gluten is actually a very popular Chinese appetizer!
I’ve found that Chinese cuisine stick a big middle finger at diet trends

…not sure about that…it’s inexpensive, used as filler on those “appetizer plates”, it’s a gross misuse of calories imo (marinade mostly sugar)

I find this is mostly when the “cuisine” origin comes from poor people making best use of what’s available.

agreed. but that doesn’t stop 烤麸 from showing up at pretty much everywhere

Why else would someone willingly eat duck eggs they found buried in lime

That’s because you’re a Cantonese dude, My wife’s gourmet shit dumplings have at least 300 calories in each of them. Even expensive Cantonese cuisine makes me lose weight easily.

I just looked it up and it honestly looks like something I’d eat (however that doesn’t say much because there is very little I wouldn’t be willing to try).

I have never eaten gluten “as is.” Pretty sure they don’t sell it here. Does it taste anything like bread? It sure looks like.
