Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

Fixed that for you. Half of the population is here to test the other half, it’s just on a rotation.

Agreed. This is why I prefer the cold as well.

Have you not seen the Truth yet, my son?

When its cold, it takes more time to warm up for training.

And, it hurts the joints more - at least that is my experience.

Pro-tip: never warm up, and then it takes just as much time.

Although I have spent most of my training life doing this very thing…

I find that in my advanced age, warming up is a good thing.

sigh - its hell to get old~

That was tongue-in-cheek by the way.

Paul Pierce has been retired for a while now dude…

On a serious note though, I’m the worst at finding these trainwreck posters mentioned in this thread.

Apparently my bodybuilding teacher has gone insane and wants us to test tomorrow our maxes on squat, front squat, deadlift, sumo deadlift, bench, overhead press, bent over row.

I read this as I was coming home from the restaurant so I started eating again

Have you meet “everyone”?
We aren’t a nice species. I’d say your hate is well placed.

Hey chicken, pretty sure he said 50 straight reps for those DB squats

@hardartery breathing squats, definitely! That’s the thing, after 20 reps or so, I gotta breath every 5 or so reps or even during reps. Might really be a cardio issue

Edit: whoops! First line was total, then moved on to straight. So I guess the plan will be AMRAP then complete the remaining reps until I can make it straight to 50

So, why are they in the program? My guess is it’s more about anerobic conditioning. 20 rep squats help increase my bodies desire to increase glycogen stores, which helps with some things, but isn’t really going to directly do a lot for my strength or size. It does help my work capacity though, so the benefit is indirect. And conditioning sucks.

I saw that and wondered the same. No doubt the kid that did 150lb for 50 is bigger / stronger than most of the did 50lb kids that did 50lb for 50.
Looking at the limited info / without opening the thread it looks to be an accessory if you dont have a rack. It’s not what I’d have though of. But I’m not a coach.

Personally I’d say it’s more of a character building exercise than anything else.
50 reps of anything is hard. 50 reps of goblet squat with 75lb… that’s torturous.

Based on the thread, seems to be a substitute for those without a squat rack. Not sure if it’s formally in any of his other programs as I only have the 2nd edition of his book

Well, for sports I think reps are important. You’re gonna be moving throughout the game. Granted, in my sport, it’s bursts of jumping (volleyball). So there’s a part that builds endurance too, but yeah, definitely also character building.

For me right now, I confess there’s also an ego part. I still wanna be able to do what the college kids can do. Trying to stay in my sport for as long as I can

There’s a few vids on the elitefts YouTube page where Wendler is giving a presentation and he explains why he has his athletes goblet 50 reps before he allows them to put a bar on their backs.

If it’s who I think it is, please go easy on that fellow(to others, definitely not you since you’ve already blocked him lol). He’s the mild schizo I was talking about earlier.
