I confess that, after stepping on the scale this morning, I’m the lightest I’ve been in 3 years (sub 180lbs). I also confess that, my physique is by no means impressive, but I’m glad that in the past three years I’ve made my body look quite different at this weight than it used to.
What I’m not looking forward to doing is assembling my gym this evening after the local anesthetic wears off my just operated on toe. Must be done though.
I’m the same. I LOVE the beginning of the journey: it’s so exciting. And I LOVE the idea of giving someone “the keys to the kingdom” from the start: letting them learn from my mistakes and setting them up for success EARLY so that they can just crush it. And, so often, it’s just a complete and total letdown as they just fight, bicker, argue, act condescending, etc etc.
There are a few exceptions, and they make it all worthwhile. @samul is absolutely crushing it, and has taken a lot of advice to heart. There have been a few others as well.
My confession: if I get good news from my docs in January, I am doing this challenge
There’s a study I’ve linked before somewhere in TN that found the saliva swab test is just as (definitely) if not slightly more (possible) accurate than the touch the brain stem test.
I find that even if they dont do this, they often just don’t want to believe what you tell them. The simple and effective advice often involves telling them about hard work and keeping it simple. But very few newbies want to hear this, they want to do fancy exercises and seemingly complicated approaches to training even if they don’t produce results. I feel like if most newbies started weight training like they would another sport they would get better results.
Confession my biggest training regret is not joining the weightlifting team at university (school).
I can attest from many rounds of research that nothing warms up the body better after 2 hours of shoveling snow than blueberry poptarts fresh out of the toaster. Frozen pizza is a far but admirable second choice.
Cherry, meanwhile, is the most anabolic flavor, and best used for powerlifting meets and strongman competitions between events.
