Flame Free Confession III: Even More Flame Free (Part 1)

Most people’s Circadian Rhythm shuts the brain down at 3, give or take. AM and PM. The new guys were frequently face down on the desk at 3 AM. HR frowned on Sharpie make-up unfortunately. Modafinil would be a good choice, just keep in mind it is a scheduled substance.

Damn
… when you have a dog that tends to have separation issues. Trying to lift is like having toddlers again. Leaving him inside isnt a option…

I am preemptively confessing that I will be eating the $5 Nacho Box at Taco Bell as my pre-workout meal tomorrow. My plan is to squat until blood leaves my body through at least 2 orifices.

And I want to use this post to reach out to the t-nation community (because I am trying to be more efficient in my posting): do you have a favorite article on here that details a bodybuilding (like actual bodybuilding) style plan of training that could be executed without machines? I’m getting the wanderlust as far as training goes and have been looking back at DoggCrapp, but wondering if there’s something else out there.

I’m also pretty limited as far as dumbbells go, but figure I got enough specialty bars to make something magic happen.

Knowing how serious you are about the meaning of terms (weightlifter, powerlifter, bodybuilder, weekend warrior, strongman, etc) I look forward to your competition prep-log.

Once the kid is in college it’s a possibility. Until then, I can’t put my family through prep.

I think there are enough barbell, dumbbell, bands exercises variations to write a million BB programs without machines. Just have to get creative and make appropriate replacements.

I wanted to give you an example but I typed “mountaindog trainign for intermediate” which is like the first BB program I did from this site, and there’s actually no machines in the sample day: DB incline press, BB incline press, DB twist press, pec minor dips, push-ups ladder…

Do you mind linking the article?

I think this kind of training would be a good suit, very little machines in the paying program I did, which could be easily subbed

CTs HSS-100 articles seem like like solid options for this based on what I remember from them. Very adaptable.

PLEASE do mountaindog training. I want a review from you on it haha

Link me up. I looked through the articles and couldn’t find anything clearly laid out.

unfortunately, I don’t think you can find a program that’s already laid out and available for free from him.

you basically have two options:

  • you can watch his videos on youtube (I know you’re not a video guy but most of his free content is on youtube), and basically just pick a workout for each bodypart and build your split with those. he goes into great detail about how to sorta adapt those templates for your own program

  • you can head to his site, mountaindogdiet dot com, and go to the programs section. there you can find a list of his programs. they aren’t free, though. there is also a page, called the “program comparison chart”, which gives you info in a condensed way about all programs, so you can pick one which best suits your limitations.

unfortunately it takes a little more work than just googling a program, because most of his content is paid. I think it’s well worth it if “bodybuilding” training is a path you want to explore. I’m digging his training style big time ever since I started his program Colossus (which I would recommend to you if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s very machine- and dumbbell-heavy).

if anybody is aware of training programs that he recently put out for free, then go ahead: none come to my mind as of now.
alternatively, he wrote lots of articles on t nation in the past, like this one

which were written in such a way that one would be able to glue them out and make a program out of the single bodypart articles (there’s even periodization info).

if you have the time to do some work and/or can get your hands on a program of his, I’ll 100% be following your journey on this

I appreciate the rundown and summary like that. I may pick something up from him if the itch continues. I keep going back to the Deep Water program I bought, but just don’t have the equipment to make it work. Really wish Ironmaster would get back in stock.

I must be off my game or something because I’ve never heard of this.

I confess I’m going to find out within the next couple of days.

@T3hPwnisher Requires machines but I think most of his programs do?

It’s very similar to that Matt Kroc “bodybuilding program” you did a couple of years back with the chain side raises and stuff, just that the heavy movement is placed second in the workout.

Edit.

Actually, was the heavy movement placed second in that program? Then it was basically a Mountain Dog program with strongman lifts, I guess.

Personally, I confess that I think Meadows just records down the workouts he does every time he goes to the gym training like a normal gym bro making up his workout as he goes along but with his own workout structure that can be found in the Mountain Dog principles or something, then does a little tweaking with the volume and adds some other stuff after he has 6-12 weeks worth of workouts to make it look like there’s some periodization plan and sells them.

I guess you were right. Batman’s a wimp now. He needs 10 punches to knock a random extra down LOLOLOL.

But, damn, does the trailer look good.

@simo74 It has to LEAVE the orifice, haha. That said, as a native Californian, I have a natural immunity to Taco Bell (a product of Irvine CA. The same state that brought you Jack In The Box, In n Out, and Rubio’s. You’re welcome world.)

@dt79 I was thinking about that Kroc program would probably capture it well considering the circumstances. Appreciate the nod in that direction.

@strongmangoals much appreciated. Yeah, lotta machine focus, which I get. I DO have access to a very well stocked gym if I really get bit by the bug.

Appreciate the support from everyone.
