Hey all…I’m a 36 year old guy from the Indianapolis area. I’m 5’9, 185 lbs, but my body fat is around 30%. What is the best advice you can give as far as knocking out the fat while still keeping some muscle? I realize building new muscle isn’t going to happen while trying to trim down.
Djohns,
for nutrition read T-nation papers or follow the advice from our T-experts.
Concerning training if you use EDT or ABBH you certainly keep your muscles.
In the off days you may use 20 minutes HIIT + 20 minutes normal cardio.

To echo Luca,
Do some form of anaerobic/interval training. It’s great for calorie burning and muscle sparing.
I would also recommend playing a sport, something completely outside your usual training - pickup basketball, racquetball, etc. - and get competitive. Helps keep focus and makes exercise fun.
Thanks…that should really help. Unfortunatly I will be slightly out of commision this weekend because I messed my back up this morning.
I read the diet that was recommended in the Mutation series for the cutting phase, and I am going to give that a try.
Thanks again!
Go seek chiropractic care for your back. I’m not joking. It got me back on my feet after a bad injury1
I know…I already made an appointment for tonight. My chiro is really good and will work odd hours if you need help!
