Fitting in Cardio Whilst Cutting

Afternoon gents.

I’m looking to continue with my push/pull/legs split for my upcoming cut, but I’m unsure about how to position the cardio element. At the moment, it’s set up as 3 days on, 1 off and repeat. Would you advise tagging on say 20-30 mins cardio at the end of each session? Maybe at the start?

I read about ideally doing cardio on a separate day entirely, but I’m not sure if this is advisable here? That might make it push-pull-legs-cardio-off (repeat). As for potentially splitting up into morning cardio and evening weights, that’s also not going to be possible- I already get up at 5.30am and get back in around 5-6pm.

Any input appreciated.

As far as I know, it’s not a bad idea to do some 20min cardio after a weight training. During the weight training you have depleted you body of glucose, so the theory is that you should burn fat faster with the cardio.

Now I’ve read both pro and contra about this.

GH is higher after Weight training, so it aids in mobilizing fat. Do cardio on your off days too though.

MON - PUSH - 20 Min Cardio - Steady State Incline Walking HeartRate 120-130
TUE - PULL - 20 Min Cardio - Intervals on Step Machine
WED - LEGS - NO CARDIO
THU - OFF - 30 - 45 Min Cardio - Steady State
FRI - PUSH - 20 Min Cardio - Steady State Incline Walking HeartRate 120-130
SAT - PULL - 20 Min Cardio - Intervals on Step Machine
SUN - LEGS - NO CARDIO

This should work fine for you. Low Duration on your PUSH n PULL days, Off on LEGS day, high duration on off days.

I would start with cardio after your weight training. I definatly wouldn’t do it immediatly before weight training.

Start there and when you feel you need more consider doing cardio on your off days.
