Fish Oil Liquid or Caps?

I read a lot of the benefits of fish oil and was wanting to try it. Poliquin says something about taking a tablespoon full a couple times a day. whats more effective, liquids or capsules. would anyone reccomend Flameout? which one are you using?

Another vote for Flameout…

i take Flameout and I also take the walmart brand. I think it’s Rexall. The walmart brand is pretty cheap and seems to be of good quality.

There are some that highly believe in molecularly distilled or pharmaceutical grade fish oil. Certainly you do not wan rancid fish oil or many impurities in your fish oil. Most good fish oil is probably much better than most fish in this regard though.

Flameout which is not just fish oil is very good
Carlson is good for liquid

Discount clubs are dirt cheap and have always tested as safe, but are not pharmaceutical grade.

Some people also take the liquid or Flameout because they hate swallowing so many large pills. Many people call them horse pills. I do not understand this as I can easily swallow 12 at a time with a sip of water, but many people bitch about swallowing even 1 at a time.

As far as which is more effective oil or liquid? They are the same and only DHA, EPA purity, and of course price matter when comparing products.

One tablespoon of Carlson is about 1500 DHA and 2400 EPA. You would have to buy it by the case if you take 2 tablespoons a day.

Standard fish oil pills (some are weaker and some are stronger) contain 120 DHA and 180 EPA

Flameout is 550 DHA and 220 EPA per pill.

You want a balance, but not necessarily an equal balance of both DHA and EPA. I am unsure which is better as there have been studies for different conditions that show one is better than the other. I know the body can more easily convert EPA to DHA if needed, but it is harder to convert DHA to EPA. Biotest explains why they have more DHA in their product on the write-up page and I am sure they did their research. I am just not so sure if anyone really knows for sure what ratio is ideal. I have also seen many premium products explaining why they have much more EPA than DHA.

I would say low dose is below a gram combined of EPA and DHA.
Moderate dose is 2-3 grams combined of EPA and DHA.
High dose is 4-6 grams combined EPA and DHA daily
Mega dose is over 6 grams combined EPA and DHA daily

Many people take high or even mega doses around here. The forums are great, but just make sure you really do your own independent research if you decide to take high or mega doses of fish oil. There are some risks associated with the higher dosing.
