Fiscal Cliff Deal Reached

Expecting a politician to tell the truth is crazy talk in the first place.

But in a big picture sort of way, many cheerleaders for these tax changes that don’t think they are affected, certainly are.

VT Baller,

I see why you work for the government, you need to be in an environment where you can royally screw up while never getting fired, exhibit one of the lowest levels of productivity while showing no sign of promise or talent.

I have found most government workers to be some of them most useless forms of life, never able to hack in the private sector, while clocking a fat pension on the dime of real people who make the world go round.

Your welcome.
You don’t see shit. You know absolutely fuck all about what I do or what I’m about. It is fucking laughable that a miserable piece of shit LOSER like yourself would even think for a fucking second that you know shit about actual federal work.

No talent or promise? LOL I guess that’s why I’ve been promoted twice since 2008 and am on the fast track to Chief Engineer in the next 15 years? LOL. But yeah its probably just because all those other dumbasses worked their way up the chain through nepotism and dat’ der’ 'Bama because they couldn’t hack it in the private sector, right? LOL. So you’re saying that 3 star Admirals couldn’t hack it in the private sector so that’s why they went to work for the government? Why do you hate the military?

Too fucking funny man. You have demonstrated absolutely NOTHING that shows you have any sort of talent or promise. You sit around in a fucking forum full of guys that don’t lift on a fucking weightlifting forum because they happen to share the same narrow ass worldview as you do, complaining about how unfair shit is and how you are the only REAL PEOPLE that actually work and contribute to society. You are beyond pathetic.

Your statistic is wrong, at least at face value “from the fiscal deal made”.

The increase was due to the expiration of the TEMPORARY social security payroll tax holiday, which was set to expire at the end of 2012 all along. It had absolutely ZERO support for extension FROM EITHER SIDE OF THE AISLE.

It’s weird that I have to explain that in a forum that prides itself on its political intellectualism.

Obama proposed extending it in the first round of proposals sent to Congress, and it was rejected. Why are Republicans so willing to raise taxes?

Extending what? The EE-SS holiday?

If that is what you are refering to, I would imagine the ending of the holiday would have much to do with the SS running in the red the last year or two. (According to Michael Graham, haven’t verified the info, but I assume he wouldn’t lie on the radio.) Given that, I would imagine “raising” the SS tax back to where it was would have something to do with a needed evil.

Borrowing from it in the first place was a stupid idea, that didn’t accomplish anything but give people something to demagogue later.

Yes, proposed to keep the rate at 4.2% instead of 6.2%.

Michael Graham may be wrong, because SS was not running in the red due to the tax holiday, as all the lost revenue from the tax holiday were replaced by general funds.

You cannot call a fast track to anything taking 15 years.

If you are/were a 3 star general, then the standards for our military have fallen so low, you might as well recruit mall-cops.

I have never proclaimed myself to be a “baller” of any kind, so I never set myself up to fill such huge shoes, or in your case boots, but since I know commas bother you, comma, comma, comma, comma, comma…

If you think these guys don’t lift, because they comment on a political forum, then you have just shown why you have reached the motherload level of douche-baggery extending beyond what was previously thought.

Some guys choose to lift, some do not. I honestly don’t care because I respect their decisions whatever they may be. For you to think you are strong, is purely foolish, because truly strong men know there is always someone stronger lurking nearby. What you think is balling is most likely not, really rich people usually don’t brag about it, they just fire up their private G-6 a go about their business. Your paycheck is not that impressive, rich people know humility.

I would rather see you offer some insightful opinion rather than come in here looking to start trouble. Don’t start no stuff there won’t be no stuff, know what I mean ?

When did I claim I was a 3 star general, maxi-pad? LOL Your reading comprehension a little off? A 3 star general at 30 years old? LOLOLOL

When the fuck did I say I was strong maxi-pad? You seem to be threatened about my level of strength since you have brought it up twice now in conversations, when I had never even MENTIONED the height of my strength accomplishments. Please point out where I have said I was strong (actually I can point out where I’ve said the exact opposite). Save the fucking strawmen douchebag, because if anyone is sayin’ that I’m strong, it ain’t me!

When on Earth did I ever brag about my paycheck and expect people to be impressed by it maxi-pad? This is just getting riduclous. If you can’t argue about the things that I actually say (and specifically refute the things that I DO say that run counter to that) without using your wittle imagination to fill in the blanks to paint me with the broad strokes that you are so eager to do, then you are just proving how over your head you actually are.

Pathetic.

Loser.

I guess you didn’t see where I wrote “IF you are/were a 3 star general”, please re-read what I wrote, then go choke yourself.

As far as the claims about you money, you spoke of it in the thread about Obama winning, the thread you never spoke in until AFTER Obama won. Yes, that is the quality of bitch move you are capable of. Please don’t exhibit selective amnesia, you blabbed about this shit to many people, Lord Mensa.

Smart move walking back your statements, you are finally learning, let’s see if it continues.

If I am ridiculous, then I am not doing it right, I want to be Barackulous. I think that’s what it will take for you to see how bad you have become.

Can you just offer meaningful debate at this point, or does this babysitting continue ?
VTBalla34 wrote:

Cause is irrelevant. If it is running in the red a continued holiday is silly.
as all the lost revenue from the tax holiday were replaced by general funds.
SS is kept in the general fund, so whether or not, on an accountants ledger, the funds were “replaced” or not is moot. The government hasn’t run at a surplus since the late 90s so it was “replaced” with debt…

But it really doesn’t matter. Taxes, particularly SS, did (and still do in ways) have to go up, but spending has to come down by a larger amount for the anything remotely close to fiscal sanity to occur. I’m not against raising taxes 100% of the time. If certain other conditions occur, I would welcome certain tax increases.

Once the Boomers die off, SS won’t be in as bad of shape as it is now, and I’m sure they will either patch it, or borrow to “save” it until then.

Big picture, the Holiday was dumb in the first place, and should have sunset at its orginal date.

I just skimmed this thread but am I too believe that Federal employment constitutes theft? Im sorry I took some of your money I had no idea I was a thief…lol

I agree, I was just clarifying that the tax holiday didn’t make it “more red” so to speak (by the 2% cut) since that lost revenue was replaced.
countingbeans wrote:

Correct.
Big picture, the Holiday…should have sunset at its orginal date.
Which it did. Yet here have people in here bitching about their taxes going up because it did ride off into the sunset. The cynic in me thinks they just want to complain about something. The part of me that recognizes how little they actually understand about the things they complain about knows that they didn’t even realize this is why their taxes are higher in the first place.

It isn’t being an employee, with most things in life, whether or not people lable you is based on your actions, words and in general how you carry yourself.

So no, simiply working for the government isn’t bad. Your attitude and expression about the situation might be though.
VTBalla34 wrote:

Fair enough.

I think (about 80% sure and too lazy to look it up) it was supposed to sunset 12/31/11, and they extended it to 12/31/12. That is what I was getting at with orginal date.
MaximusB wrote:

Ah your cherry picking is very convenient. I was talking salary in context of taxes paid, and mine haven’t gone up even though I made more money in 2008 than 2012. I did not in any way say that I was wealthy. You must have deduced that yourself. I would love for you to quote and link to anything that actually substantiates your assertion that I am bragging about my wealth LOL.
the thread you never spoke in until AFTER Obama won. Yes, that is the quality of bitch move you are capable of. Please don’t exhibit selective amnesia, you blabbed about this shit to many people, Lord Mensa.
LOL I am not interested in sitting around trying to wrangle a bunch of lunatics who have no hope of recognizing how uninformed they actually are. I try to point it out by how you guys were giving Nate Silver shit for his presidentail predictions, because you were living in your little bubbles at the time and saw no way that your Messiah Romney could lose. How did that turn out for ya?

It is much more fun and entertaining for ME to just sit back and laugh at your ignorant ass than even hope to sway your opinion. This forum is what I make it (public forum and all).

It’s also adorably cute that you have no adopted Push’s name for me as your own. Do you have posters of him up on your wall too?

I don’t think people have an issue with government employees, but someone who throws the idea in your face that they are happy you got taxed more so they could flaunt their baller status just makes for a bad taste.

Case in point, after California Prop 30 passed, a teachers Union rep bragged about sucking out more money from the public to pay for teachers fat salaries. He woke up the next morning to find someone took a shit on his car.

Ah yes you were right, it was extended to 2012 in February 2012. I thought it was originally two years because it was part of the 2010 legislation where everything else was extended for 2 years.

You’re dismissed (and unlike you, I actually mean it when I threaten to put someone on ignore!).

It really takes a certain level of dumbassery to get on my ignore list too. Congratulations moron!
