Those are very fun cars to drive spiritedly. The powerband is weird in then because you have to keep the revs high to feel anything. I drove a buddy’s a few times and it was different. Probably a fun toy to have and modern classic for sure.
First Car, bought it for $400, and drove the shit out of it. Had 72k miles and, no shit, would use a gallon of oil driving to the beach and back. Thats aboot 100 miles round trip.
lol
Freaking beauty! That’s so awesome. Love the pic.
First car was a 1982 Vauxhall Nova. Not real sexy but me and me mates went all over the UK in that car.
Best car is my 1972 Mini Clubman, super fun to drive and turns more heads that a sports car.
You have a smart friend. I never even considered the insurance on one. I would also probably have a similar meeting with an immovable object if I drove something that powerful often enough. My 300hp Maxima is the fastest car I’ve ever driven for more than 10 minutes, so jumping straight to 700 ponies would probably be a bit more than I can realistically handle.
I would love to get a Mustang, but I refuse to drive a car without a convertible top or moonroof, and I hate soft tops. That’s why I was looking at Challengers to begin with.
The Corvette’s targa top is my favorite, but they’re the most uncomfortable vehicles I’ve ever driven. Visibility is terrible and the driving position feels incredibly awkward.
Yeah, the only small downside is the FWD. This is the first car I’ve purchased where winter weather hasn’t been a consideration, and I was really planning on getting something with RWD. It was too good to pass up though.
Damn, that’s a fine-lookin’ machine.
First Vehicle: 1980 Z28 Camaro; car was solid, but needed some bodywork. Swapped on a true dual exhaust minus the cats and it literally dropped a full second off the 1/4 mile time (16.3 down to 15.3sec,still not fast, but the 80’s weren’t great for automakers and making fast cars). Posi trac, RWD, made for great fun as a teen, lots of donuts, smoke shows, and admiration from other goofy bastards my age.
Not my car, but right color and style:
Best Vehicle: probably my current one, 2016 Nissan Frontier V6 Crew Cab. Plenty of power, enough bed space and muscle to haul lumber and landscaping material for my home projects, still fits in the garage easily. Enough cab space for the wife and kids and even an additional adult when needed, real basic interior with the necessities covered and Bluetooth audio. I guess I just love the Spartan quality of it. It’s the first vehicle I’ve had that never restricts getting done what I need to. A little black out work and it looks pretty decent too.
Bumping this because I finally feel like typing.
My first car was a 1988 Honda Accord. Loved this little go cart.
My best car is my current car, a 2012 Prius C. Say what you want, but I can fit my hockey goalie bag and leg pads, my player bag, my four-year-old son, and a passenger all in at the same time. I can also stow a full-suspension 29er mountain bike inside. All while getting near 60 MPG.
Honorable mention goes to the haunted 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood limo I briefly owned in high school.
My first and only car was an Audi A6 C4 1996, 2.6 V6 quattro and automatic. Bought it from my cousin for 3000 EUR. Overpaid a bit but he is a maniac mantaining his cars.
I still do not know much about cars. But with a 100 EUR maintenance costs (including insurance and tazxx)per month I would say this is pretty reliable car. Large back seat for sex or a baby coth. The 4x4 quattro system seems to handle winters here easilly. The high fuel usage my cousin fixed with an LPG. The car is sluggish but fast out of the town. Still goes at 200km/h without much trouble. I would say these are one of the best Audi cars. At 340 000 km at the moment and still very fluid.
I just got a Mazdaspeed 3. Love it. These cars are really fun (263 hp / 280 ft-lbs, and 3150 lb curb weight, and only come with a 6 speed), and can be found for cheap. I got an 08 with 85k on it for $5300, and it is near stock side from wheels and coilovers. Insurance is also really low for what it is ($45/month for full coverage). I’m thinking they don’t know the difference between a standard Mazda 3.
Worst car was a 2000 saturn sl2. Broke down all the time. No radio, ac, the sun roof leaked.
They shouldve learned this with the Vipers lol early years without traction control were monsters to handle. I once worked in a machine shop that a Asian gentleman had one as a daily lol.
Love it, just a pain in the ass to park.
True. I think the hellcat has traction control, right? Maybe it’s just too much power for your average middle aged man (assuming the demographic buying the hellcat is male and mid 50s) to handle?
That Mazda I just bought can go right when the intention is to go straight. I see many have these making low 300s hp at the wheels. Seems like torque steer would be a real issue at that point.
They definitely have traction control, but you can turn it off. i once was on a ferry from powell river to vancouver island and met a guy with a hellcat. When he started it, it set all the car alarms off around it.
Impressive cars, but i would kill for a trackhawk a 707HP 4 door suv that is AWD is insane. with a warranty to boot!
Those are pretty sweet cars. IIRC, they are actually quicker to 60 then the hellcat due to the AWD.
I am a bit scared when it comes to that crazy of a car. Repairs could wipe out the bank account quickly. I guess if you can afford it, you can afford to fix it. I will say that many with these probably can’t afford it by my definition. But I am cheap with cars. I have never taken a car loan, and the speed 3 is the first I have put full coverage on since it was $10 more per month compared to liability (and only like $5 more a month than liability my previous 09 ford focus).
warranty my man, mine has 8 year 200k lol i aint paying for anything other than brakes and tires ( which i already upgraded lol) hence the name.
I have never owned a car with a warranty. I suppose I would need to buy nicer cars for that. 8 year / 200k is quite the warranty. I have heard of longer (10 years), but never 200k.
200k km not miles also its diesel.
Canada, EH
That is correct. All those hellcats suck on the street due to their traction issues. They need track prep and a sticky track to be worth a damn. I almost bought a Trackhawk but went with my X5 instead which has only a measly 523hp/550ftlb lol
I did not know the X5 had that much power. I guess the McLaren can be taken out for when you need to go faster than the BMW econo box can handle.
They didn’t have the true X5M out at the time as I bought a new 2020 in 2019. I had to go with the M50i. From C&D…
We can’t really say the M50i left us wanting more power. Its scant 3.9-second zero-to-60-mph run and a quarter-mile pass in 12.4 seconds at 112 mph are impressive numbers for any 5336-pound behemoth
Not quite a Trackhawk but the interior and tech is way better.
