Hi everyone this is my first post and was hoping you all could help me with my first cutting plan.I am 5’9.5 and for the last year and a half I have bulked up to 200 lbs using routines such as upper/lower, fullbody and splits. I now want to cut down to 175-180 lbs.
I have read around and although fullbody routine might burn more fat they might also burn more muscle so I decided to follow a split routine so that I can be allowed to focus on certain body parts and lift as heavy as possible.
Now I have a couple of questions when performing my sets should I rest longer like 2 min so that I can lift heavy on every set? also would t-dawg 2.0 be a good diet to follow? lastly what would be a good rep/set range to stay in? and how many exercises should I perform per execise?
My plan :
mon:shoulders/triceps
tues:legs
wed:cardio only
thurs:back/rear delts
fri:chest/biceps
id do the Get Shredded Diet…check out threads in the Supps and Nutrition forum…and id doing a Total Body routine but thats me…good luck bro…but definitley check out the GSD Thread

There really have been a lot of suggestions to do the GSD and the V-diet around here. Holy shit, its his first time cutting.
To the OP, there is no need for you to follow something as extreme as the get shredded diet. The t-dawg 2.0 should be plenty. A lot of people have had success on it. So, try it out and see how it works.

thanks I was about to reply and say those diets are to extreme I do not want to cut and then balloon back up. I am looking to shed the fat and keep it that way.

what about training wise?

Not only that, but the Get Shredded Diet is made for someone that is already at 10-12% bodyfat or lower. And I know there are a hundred or so people that think they are at 10-12%, but they are really much higher.
As for training, I’d recommend something that keeps your rest periods shorter so you burn more energy. You can keep the weights moderately heavy and the reps lower, but keep the rest periods short. The best ways to burn fat through weight training are through short rest periods and combining exercises that make the body work hard. This means doing a lower body exercise superset with an upper body exercise.
There are some good training programs on here that feature such workouts. Check out Don Alessi’s Meltdown Training, Coach John Davies’ Fat to Fire workout, or some of Alwyn Cosgrove’s workouts. Even Chad Waterbury and Charles Staley have some good programs for keeping your strength and size while losing fat (CW has 10x3 for fat loss and CS has EDT for fat loss).

That might be true but I read one of CT’S articles where he states that when cutting you should not depend on your lifting to lose fat, that is what the cardio is for.
When I read the title of this thread I immediately thought I would be reading about some emo kid, who hates the world and has started to take a blade to his arm. I’m very disappointed.

I don’t see in anything that Nate said, stated he was only recommending training…from what I read he also covered diet. I’ve been dropping BF with high protein, low fat, low carb and training my bleeping my ass off using CW ABBH and cardio. Nate was on point…

Interesting, I’ve never heard of anyone using a hypertrohpy workout for a cutting plan.
Anyway, to the OP… CW wrote a program “cut without dieting” or something like that. From what I remember, it was a ballsy workout. You’ll experience some pretty good results with that PLUS a cutting diet.
Also, ripped rugged and dense will help maintain muscle while on a hypocaloric diet.

Well…I know you can’t…but you could ask my wife of my results. Again…it is the full spectrum of diet/supplements and a solid workout routine including cardio. I would never say that only doing the ABBH is helping me to drop BF…but the accumulation of all things working together. We could do any workout plan…eat like crap, not get the proper rest…and the like, and still look like the beached whale on Reno 911.
I tend to switch my workout programs every 9-12 weeks…as not to get bored and keep things fresh. Right now it happens to be ABBH.
