First Home Gym Setup

That depends on what you mean by “Particle board”. A quality OSB (Like Advantech, which is sub-flooring) is going to be a lot tougher than plywood or any other option, honestly.

So I just checked back and that’s exactly what it calls for.

  • (4) 4′ x 8′ pieces of 5/8”-thick OSB/particle board
  • 1 piece of 3/4”-thick, smooth maple or oak plywood

I know pretty much fuck all about wood and building materials, so I’m happy to hear that.

If you’re gonna unscrew to move, definitely use OSB and not particle board. I used particle board and the screws stripped immediately during assembly. Also, my bench slid like hell on the smooth wood so I put down what’s essentially skateboard decking to make it grippy.

Decided to grab this one, figure I’ll grab an adjustable one when they’re more readily available/when I want one.

My axle (thanks for the verbiage update @T3hPwnisher) has arrived, getting ready to give it a run.

Governor in my state just announced a minimum of a month long shutdown starting this week, nearly perfect timing.

Which state if you dont mind me asking… at the moment indiana is doing it on a county bases.

Washington, Inslee just shut down everything indoors, essentially. King county, where I live, is spiking so even if it were by county we’d probably still get shutdown. I don’t like it but I think it’s the right move. I was going to post our county graph here but the website is apparently inundated with traffic :yikes:

You still have gym access?

We hit 8500 cases in one day over here… the whole state is going to be locked back down soon

Do I have gym access?

Yep  but I can’t speak for the rest of the sorry bastards in my area.

Damn, I’m jealous, that’s a solid amount of stuff. Give me a few (or 10) years and hopefully I’ll be there. At the rate I’m buying shit right now it might only take 6 months but I’d have to get another job and a bigger garage.

Yeah… space is the main issue on my end.

Thats one thing thats chapped my cheeks this year (other than the obvious things), the price gorging online with home gym equipment.

I used to like browsing to see what new wee bites and pieces I could get for my home gym, not now, its either overpriced or out of stock.

On my end im not seeing price gouging much as just out of stock on things I want.

Guys: it’s gouging.

I’m in a townhouse that luckily has a 1 car garage that is much longer than the car my girlfriend has, so I have space for a rack and maybe a few feet of deadlifting space but not much else. Will hopefully be out of the city and some where more rural/suburban in a few years and be able to ramp things up then.
