How do you get along with “supplements” such as psyllium?

Edit: asking about the consistency and condition of your stool is where I draw the line, so won’t go there.

I havent tried it. I just kind of know the few things i can eat and if i eat other i just know i will be farting alot.
Tried some fiber - bloats me and gives me gas also. I take probiotics but those dont change much.

The only time my stool is normal is if i fast and am on a caloric deficit.
No probs with these questions, one of five people suffer from IBS they just dont want to talk abt it, so im trying to be open so maybe more people would speak out.

How do oral aas get along with your IBS? I know when I took Dbol i was bloated, farted like crazy and had to take a shit at least two-three times a day. Have you tried cutting out the orals and see if that helps?

95% of my life i am not taking orals.
Also, they dont seem to change anything. My IBS is weird as there are some foods that are typical - milk, eggs, most grains. But then there is the weird part where i seem to be able to get away much better with the typical “bad” choices.
Coffee on an empty stomach, for example. Oral steroids.
My body feels better with chips than with brown rice. McDonalds burgers - not a single fart. A bowl of oatmeal? Be ready to leave the room.
A ton of gummy bears - nice. Any fruit? Noup.

I have tried to find the logic in my IBS, i have had tons of food journals and shit journals and fart journals. Once i even tried to count how many farts a certain food gives me the next 2 hours after eating.
There seem to NOT be any logic. For example i am fucked with milk and milk products but cheese is fine. Can have 5 Monster energy drinks but cant drink any real juice.

Its like my stomach doesnt want to process anything, it just wants get everything processed already. It doesnt seem to be like probiotic or fiber related - its more that my stomach just doesnt like most foods.
90% of foods just give me crazy farts. So i stick to foods i can eat normally, and i eat more of unsafe foods at night, so im not bothered by the farting. Also, there are some foods my body really hates like oats, eggs and milk - gives also super smely farts but most food is just like air - its a lot, frequent, loud but not smelly. Just like air.

If I was to guess why, it’s because cheese has almost no lactose compared to milk. The sharper the cheese generally the less lactose. Sharp cheddar has basically zero lactose.

If it’s not that, then it’s a quantity thing. A pint of milk is a lot of dairy compared to how much cheese most people eat (I say most because I live in the mid West, and we put cheese on almost everything).

Most fiber was just making the issue worse, but for some reason Psyllium husk is just magic it seems. Not even going to try to understand it: I’m just happy to no longer see blood in the bowl.

Ditto for me. Although reducing caffeine or any stimulant helps considerably. I used to chew nicotine gum, loved the stuff but really flared up my IBS.

As an FYI - I can do this weight for reps on front squat and then do 20 reps back squat with it. And I’m not the strongest (100% natural) lifter on this thread.
I’m not pissing on your parade. But if you want to do this you need all the info. A 500lb for 1 or 285lb for 20 is fairly achievable with smart programming and dedication.

Do either of those and I think you’d get more traction in calling your self “strong”.

I eat a LOT of cheese just to stick the middle finger to my lactose intolerance

If I could squat 285 for 4, I’d say I could call myself “pretty strong” :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Last time I saw you weighed about 50% of the MAN.

I am not lactose intolerant. I am milk protein intolerant.

Will look into this one. But im almost sure its not available where i live. At first i have to know how its in my native language. Translators dont translate the word “psyllium”.

Metamucil

There is no such thing or word in my language, nor a product found in google.

What i did found tho is a “whole psylium husk” powder. Would that be smth simmilar?

Thats exactly what we are talking about

Ok, ordering it now…

How do you take it? When, how much?
I know there are directions on the packet but whats your experience?

edit - it seems i can get “whole husks” and also a “husk powder”. Would there be a difference? It seems that this Metamucil is powdered?

Get powder. Mix in liquid. Drink before or after meals. 2-3x a day.

I only use a teaspoon of psyllium husk powder a day. Add it to anything so that you eat it all. I know what I do would not be ideal for Hank, but I put it in a yogurt and protein powder “mud” that looks like pudding; and put in the freezer for about 10 minutes. And I have been using it for the last 25 years.
