Your shoulders, especially your rear delts, are ridiculous. And your back is pro-sized. Definitely a thread when I need some inspiration.

Omgomgomgomgomg, this is sick, you look dumb huge. The side chest made me burst out laughing though, lol.

Sick progress man. Everything’s really coming together for you.

Very inspirational, you’re looking absolutely rock solid from the back!

Best of luck I hope you place top, you look like you deserve it.

Looking good, E. Posing seems much better, although some things still look off to me. Your hips are off-balanced in the rear shots. I don’t know if it matters much, but it may be due to how you’re flexing your back leg.

Also side chest looks off to me. Are you pushing in the rear pec with your back arm? Also, pronate the front hand so you show off your bicep peak better. Lastly, and I never knew if this was right or not, when I posed, I stretched the front pec out to make it look bigger instead of flexing it. Again I was never quite sure if that was right.

Edit:

Just noticed this

GTFO! with that side chest! lol we need to work on that again and the hip tilt. Aside from that things are coming together really well. Good work, Keep it up![/quote]

Guess we had the same thoughts.

Looking awesome man. I wish I could get my lower lats to jump out like that. Is that anything you targeted or just how they shaped up?

@ thoughts and way: I know, side chest needs a lot of work…hopefully with your guys’ help, we can get it there : ).

@ Fatty: Thanks brotha!! That’s a compliment for sure.

@ Bambi: Appreciate the comments and encouragement man!

@ KB: Lol, I know me too.

@ Spar4tee: Thanks bro! I really think there will be some exciting changes in leanness in the next month or so.

@ Ben: That’s the hope! Appreciate the encouragement, and all I can do now is prepare myself as best as possible and leave the placing up to the judges.

Appreciate all the comments guys…Sorry I’ve been a bit remiss in updating/answering posts, but I’ve just been rushing around a lot in the past few days. I’m back now tho!

Some recent PRs in the gym are 455 x 6 squat, which is only 2 reps off my best which was done at 225, 275 x 6 incline bench which is only 2 off my best done at 225-230, and 555 x 4 deadlift which ties an all-time PR…Strength is still there!

I have really changed around my back training a ton in the past 6 months or so to focus a ton on lat width…I’ve always had pretty good thickness from all the heavy rows, deads, and chins, but I really hadn’t focused on building my lats and making my back “pop” more until really October 2010 or so.

My training sessions are really focused around “feeling” all of my movements, getting a strong squeeze and holding the weight at that point for 2-10 seconds. Also very important is the stretch at the end of any movement IMO. I make sure to get a nice stretch and then explode with the weight and hold for 2-10 seconds depending on the set.

Check out my log for how I specifically breakdown my back sessions, but really focusing on movements where you can squeeze your lats and get a good stretch are fantastic for width. My favorites are single arm pulldowns, close grip cable rows, single arm cable rows or machine rows to the hip, HS rowing with a hold at the contraction and done from a dead-stop, and reverse grip pulldowns…All of these, if done with a focus on squeezing your lats as hard as possible, with perfect form (no swinging), and with a nice, controlled stretch at the top, will help you build your lats.

Here’s a link to my log so you can see how my sessions breakdown:

Here’s a recent back pic just for kicks:

god stop tilting your pelvis to the side, noob!

Inspirational stuff in here man, your back is sick. Your lifting style is somewhat similar to mine and my back is probably my best body part, hopefully I can get to this point in another year or two.

Hey guys, I’ll throw up a few pics, but I’ll do a full update next week.

My bodyweight right now is 204.5 in the mornings and Layne is pushing hard with diet and cardio, as we are 10 weeks out now. I am happy with my leanness level and muscle retention. I am at least lifting as much as I was when I weighed 25 lb more and am even matching/beating PRs in some exercises, such as 225 x 3 on the seated military press and 315 x 4 on decline close grip bench press. Tried doing the seated military’s like CT has them with the bench at a slight incline and doing the full ROM (chin-full lockout) and really like them a lot, def a keeper.

Overall, I’m feeling good and the dieting/prep hasn’t been too hard yet.

For those interested, here is a typical day of eating for me right now.

Meal 1: “Protein Pancake:” 1 Omega 3 Egg, 100 grams egg beaters, 1 scoop Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, 1-2 tbsp splenda, dash cinnamon, water; Put all in blender, then cook on skillet. I topped this with some Power Butter (if you don’t have this, I highly recommend getting some)

Meal 2: 210 grams diced breakfast style homefries cooked in 1/2 tbsp virgin coconut oil, 3 omega 3 fried eggs, 10 spelt/flax thin cakes, 2 tbsp reduced sugar ketchup, Protein Pudding (protein + Power Butter + Greek Yogurt, all in relatively small quantities)

Workout Nutrition:No carbs, special intra-workout drink, EAAs + D-Aspartic Acid Post

Meal 3: Berardi’s Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal: 60 grams quick oats dry, cinnamon, water, 1.5 scoops protein, 60 grams organic pumpkin (no sugar added or anything), 25 grams power butter (unreal good)

Meal 4: 130 grams diced potatoes + mushrooms cooked in gluten free Szechuan sauce, 8 ounces grass fed london broil

Meal 5: Protein Brownie: 1 egg, 1.5 scoops protein, 25 grams peanut butter or power butter, splenda, little bit of water…microwave and viola (top with some fat free cool whip for deliciousness).

Who said dieting had to be hard? : ).

Thanks brotha, keep trucking and you’ll get there with hard and smart training!

One thing that was key for me in building my back was starting to train it like a bodybuilder and not just a strength athlete or a guy that wants to be strong. I still do heavy, heavy deads, rack deads, rows, and pullups etc…, but I incorporate tons of movements intended to “feel” the lats and back working and contracting. I think that is of utmost importance in building every muscle, but especially back.

Appreciate the support!

Been following your progress in the powerlifting thread and elsewhere, constantly hitting squat PRs…keep going with that intensity and no doubt you’ll be right where you want to be.

Every try using Stevia instead of the artificial stuff? I just switched and don’t mind it. You actually use less I found out. Stuff is pretty damn sweet.

Not ebomb, I’ve tried stevia before and I didn’t really “taste” it, but these bad boys are god like. I’ve been using their products for a while and they fucking kick ass:

That diet sounds much more delicious then most peoples off seasons! My diet included!

Just goes to show if your clever and know what your doing you can manipulate things to your advantage without the only option being tilipia + broccoli + brown rice. I’m going have to try some of the things your eating. I am thinking you possibly use MDD principles when it comes to the eggs and meat?? Seems to be working!

I have before, and I do like it…I have both at home and switch off between the two. It is tasty!

Yes! I have the pancake syrup, chocolate sauce, and marshmallow dip…amazing stuff, but I try and only use it occasionally.
