Firefighters - Any Out Here?

So what are you discussing now? You are discussing how I shouldn’t be in this thread. Besides this, I haven’t seen any discussion in the past few days. So what are you bitching about?

Do you really want me to start a Firefighter - Rapist/Sex Scandal thread?

As stated previously, what profession is without scandal. Clinton got a blow job in the Oval office. Its just that firefighters and people in the public eye make nice targets for the media. Sensationalism, not journalism.

Your information says healthcare as occupation, how about all of the nursing home rapes that occur each year? I know, you will tell me that you don’t work in a nursing home. And I will tell you that not all firefighters are the same.

I had never heard about any of this and my brother is a firefighter so I am constantly on the look out for fire related information. But I saw that you provided several links to information.

Step back and realize the service these men and women provide for us, and the amount of money they get paid. Doesn’t quite make sense or even out. Even if a firefighter sat around the firehouse all day (which they don’t) and only fought one fire a week, their job would be 100 times more “work” than mine (physical therapist) ever would be. I often say that being a firefighter is great work until you have to actually go out and do the job.

Living in Chicago you hear a lot of sirens and every time I am on the street and an engine/ladder passes by I swell with pride knowing my brother does this job. Many strong men and women hop in a truck to race to a building and unknown situation that everyone else is running away from.

You should probably provide your address so if ever needed these brave “heroes” can stop by a strip club on the way to saving your ass.

Thank You!

Very well thought out response. Please share your “health care” profession so we can determine what career is without criminals/scandal.

I hate it how people try to excuss what people do by saying that other people do it too.

There are a ridiculous amount of Firefighters that get charged with rape, have sex on duty, etc. I don’t hear about nearly as many sex scandals in other proffesions.

I almost died when I was 18 from a burst appendix. Firefighters didn’t do shit for me. The surgeon saved my life.

If a fire needs tending, then a Firefighter puts the damn fire out. If a fire broke out anywhere around me and Firefighters were not on the scene yet, I would do whatever I could help.

So quit acting like they work so hard for me. Whatever they end up doing, they do it because it’s their job. It’s what they wanted to do. It’s what they get paid to do. I’m not going to kiss someone’s ass for doing their job.

If someone’s life was in danger and I could help, I would do everything in my power to help if I was in that situation. I have before. So quit with the ass kissing brown nose bullshit.

I am not quite sure what the opening sentence is supposed to convey. However, if I could have sex on my job I would be the first to take advantage of that opportunity as I am sure others would. I am sure that firefighters don’t have the market cornered for on the job sex. I am sure that doesn’t happen anywhere else or in any other profession (note sarcasm).

The surgeon saved you…good that is what the people that are educated to cut into you are supposed to do. Paramedics/firefighters are only supposed to get you to the hospital alive, not cut into you to take out an appendix.

Kind of makes me wonder what type of health care professional you are if you don’t know that little bit of trivia. Still no response to your profession?

I have never heard about any of these firefighter scandals until you brought them up. I guess if you go looking for something hard enough you can find it, as you did in this case.

True it is their job and I am pretty sure that you couldn’t do much at the scene of a fire besides get in the way.

I can honestly say that I hope you burn to death with the attitude you have towards firefighters.

Hey Split,

Man, this thread took a wrong turn. I train two Firefighter challenge teams out here in Mississauga…(MFD and PFD) and have been to numerous meets. I have to say I have never meet a bunch of stand-up professionals in my life.

Good luck in getting in to the Department. You will enjoy what you do for a living and if you have a chance to work with the guys and gals that I have trained, you will see what I mean.

As in any profession you will get the idiots and knuckleheads, but so far I have never met one in the Department. Good luck again and study hard.

ok flyingwhineyassedbitterandtwistedbitchofdoom, I wrote ‘firefighter rape’ in google, and sure enough there are 506,000 hits for this. We are indeed a bunch of miscreants it seems. I apologise.

I then did ‘police rape’, and came up with 12,200,000 hits. What bastards that lot are. Never liked the rozzers anyway, I knew they were filth.

I then did ‘teacher rape’, and again 3,830,000 hits came up. I can’t understand why we glorify those bastards either when they are clearly a bunch of kiddy-fiddling pederasts.

I did a few professions actually, and have eventually decided to re-train as a lawyer, (something I considered prior to joining the modern day Sodom & Gomorrah that is the fire service) - only 305,000 hits came up when I googled them. Hooray for lawyers then, champions of all that is decent and right in modern society.

thanks for hijacking my thread with your immature and ridiculous argument. Your a class act emu. Stop your complaining, this debate could be had with almost every profession there is.

I guess this whole thread was a bad idea and a waste of time.

type in any profession in google and attach it to rape. I got 135,000 for JANITORS, i got 2,260,000 for pilots, 3,880,000 for teachers, 1,920,000 for dentist rape, 817,000 for CABINET maker rape, these are just random occupations, your argument is ridiculous, please stop now and lets get back on topic thanks.

oh and for fun i typed in “emy rape” and got 668,000, u ever think rape just might be a key word on google, or maybe alot of emu’s get raped… who knows.

If I look hard enough? Type in “Firefighter rape” into google search. Not too difficult.

Why the hell do you want to know how I make my money (job)?

You hope I burn to death? In your eyes it’s justified to wish something so horrific on someone you have never met in your life because I’m not joining in on the ass kissing over an internet forum.

I never said I hate Firefighters. I am simply sick of all the glorification.

You have proved my point in your response.

Firefighters are so over glorified that when someone doesn’t kiss all Firefighters asses, another person will actually wish the person to burn to death.

Sad thing is not a damn one of the firefighters I know would hesitate to save your sorry ass, no mater the risk to their own lives or what stupidity you did to get yourself in a situation needing to be saved!

Do you also believe that soldiers that have fought and died for our country are not heros? I mean they must have known going in of the dangers but choose to volunteer anyway.

ANY SUBSEQUENT POSTERS:

Please do not post any more messages in this thread, I’m sure the avid Building a Better Body forum readers would like to have their board back.

But if you wish to continue this discussion please move it to the Get a Life section.

just a quick reply because this thread has got me aggrevated.

  1. i am not a hero. my friends and family aren’t heroes, and when my son grows up i’ll teach him that.
  2. does that negate the fact that the JOB we chose to do can be dangerous sometimes which makes the public think we’re heroic? no it doesn’t, but that’s the publics call NOT OURS. if you ask any fireman to talk about what we do they will probably speak humbly about it and tell you they were, “just doing there job.” we all come from different backgrounds, but there is something in us that makes us want to do these difficult and sometimes stupid things, and the fact that it helps people out in bad (to horrible) situations is a bonus.
  3. does that negate the fact that sometimes you have bad apples in the bunch which will take advantage of this heroic image PLACED UPON US? no it doesn’t. but then if you judged the whole of us against the 1% who are screwups then you’re demonstrating your own pettyness, and ignorance. its the same result for any demographic, and i’m not saying that it makes it right. it’s just a fact of life.

look, i wasn’t going to contribute to this (because this thread reads like an arguement between six year olds), but i wanted to say good luck to split if he still checks this thread. just apply yourself, and give to the job and the job will give back to you ten fold. “stay low, stay crazy”

and emu…
i never disagreed with your post that we’re not heroes cuz we’re not. but you sound like an ass. like an angry kid who just learned how to talk. maybe if some of your response weren’t so childish after your initial post this thread would have stayed about what split wanted and not about you.

merry christmas from a nyc fireman.

Thanks emu for taking something that potentially could have been very helpful to those like myself and very informative, and turning it into your own moan and groan crybaby rant. Your a class act, thanks alot. And to all those who did help me and gave advice and information thank you very much i truely do appreciate it.

ok emu, you’re boring me now…

I brought up teachers as an example of a profession that is quite rightly held in high regard by most people in society. At least over here in the UK it is, maybe I’m being presumptious thinking it would be in the US too. Anyway, this is the last I’m posting on this inane, witless thread.

Firefighter in Colorado. Been in the fire service for 6 years, a paramedic now for about 5 months. Good luck with your endeavors. While I’m here, wanted to see what type of weight programs can be suggested. What are some of the programs you all are doing that keep you in shape on the job?
